From Cindy and Leroy Bartlome:
Art and I go back a long ways. I worked with Art and for RTC for 53 years. We had a lot of challenges and we always seemed to conquer the problems. Art could always make you believe that anything was possible. Art and RTC are responsible for a number of community projects. Art would donate time, money, and labor to any project involving community. They don’t make men like him anymore! He was fun to work with and it was always an adventure! Art will be missed and he lived his life his way!
From Gaylen and Carolyn Smyer:
Michelle and Brook and family members, we want to express sympathy at Art's passing. What a great guy. He literally has fingerprints and footprints all over this community as he was involved with countless concrete and construction projects. He was a master bridge builder. He leaves a legacy of family and work accomplishments that are improving our community and surrounding areas. Art was admired for his work, work ethic, friendliness, and generosity. We pray the Lord will comfort you at this time of loss and adjustment. Best wishes.
From Idaho State Veterans Cemetery Blackfoot:
Rest in peace with gratitude for your time in service.

Michelle and family. We are so sorry for your loss. Art was such a good man. In 1984, before we knew Art very well, he came and helped us on our house and has helped us many times since. He was always so willing to help. Michelle, you were so good to take care of Art. We pray for your peace and comfort.
From Tyrell Bywater:

From Grant Cooke:
I am grateful that I was able to get to know Art while serving with him as a temple worker. He is a great man!
From Chelsea Vega (Kendel &Lisa Asher’s daughter):
Art was never not smiling when ever I saw him. My favorite memory is from way back when I was in 9th grade and I was at a basketball game and during half time I went out to concessions and went up to my dad to get him to buy me something, put my arm around him to find out it was Art! He was my dad’s double. We laughed about that for many years. May you find comfort and peace with his passing knowing he is no longer suffering.

From Marlo and Penny Jones:
I am flooded with thousands of memories of my best friend of 60 years. So many years of cherished adventures and life experiences. From snowmobiling, skiing, dirt biking, college and staying out of trouble (for the most part). He almost missed our wedding as my best man, he made it just in time. Art always came through. No one could have had a better friend. We will love him forever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle and family as we cope with his absence. Rest in peace my friend.
Love Marlo and Penny

We appreciate all that you have done for us when you came and watched my kids you and Art were a lifesaver for us. And the both of you came to support us when Greg passed away. I love you very much and if you need anything, please let us know. I had sent you a card we want to help. Love you.
From Gay Dawn & Lonnie Downs :
There are just not many guys like Art! He was truly a man of many talents and could do anything. He helped us when we added on to Farmer’s Corner many years ago and then built our storage units. We enjoyed him as he stopped by daily at the store always saying he was “just peachy”. Finally we had him pour concrete for our shop floor and our driveway. He was absolutely a master at pouring concrete. It’s been said he was a man of integrity and honesty and that is so true. Art will be greatly missed in our community and never forgotten. Our prayers go out to Michelle, Brook, and Derrick and all of their family at this most difficult time.

Art was one of my very dear best friends and one of the best person I have ever known. He also was a Great Bishop at the View First Ward. Whenever I needed help with something at church or at my house he would be there. He was a great listener and taught me so much about the gospel. My children loved him and Michelle and they both were so caring. He always brought my family a Christmas gift every Christmas. He and Michelle are
true Disciples of Christ. We love you and will miss you so much. Rest Well Dear Art, until we will meet again.

What a great man and a true friend. I weep at your passing, but am grateful that you are free of these afflictions. You, my friend taught me more of being Christ-like by your actions than all my days of church going ever did. You will be missed.
From Bear Whipple:
Art once played a prank on my father that I’ll never forget. On one of our mutual trips, he bought me a magnetic earring and told me to wear it. When we got back to my house, he walked in with me and immediately started apologizing to my dad, saying I had snuck off and gotten my ear pierced. My dad came right over, ripped the earring off, and the look on his face was priceless. Art just burst out laughing. It’s one of my cherished memories, he truly is a wonderful man and will be missed.

I am so deeply saddened by the loss of Art Thornton. He was a man of incredible integrity and honesty, and I was honored to call him my friend.
Of all the projects we worked on, I'll never forget our trip to Sweden, where we accomplished what everyone said couldn't be done. That was Art—brilliant, determined, and always doing the right thing. But his greatest quality was how much he cared for people. He made a profound impact on everyone lucky enough to be in his circle.
My heartfelt condolences to his family. He will be dearly missed.

Art was a tremendous man and a great friend to all he knew. He holds a very special place in the hearts of our family. I know he received the welcome salutation, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of Thy Lord!!” RIP Art, until that day when we will see you again! Heavenly Father, please bless and comfort his family!
From Gene & Dianna Hansen:
Art was a great honest man. I have known him and have done business with him and he never ever tried to take advantage of anyone. He is truly known as a man of integrity. He was a sincere friend to me and I appreciate my relationship with him and his good wife. She set the example for us all on how to care for your companion. Art knew his Father in Heaven and He knew Art. May he now enjoy his reward in heaven for the life that he lived. He is now going to be able to continue his mission the other side of the veil.
