BURLEY – Dwaine Dale Baker, better known as “D.B.” or “17”, passed away peacefully at his home on February 8, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 9, 1945, in Rupert, Idaho, to Wade and Afton Baker, Dwaine was raised south of Burley alongside his seven siblings, where they cultivated a life rooted in farming.

D.B. met the love of his life, Linda, during a memorable evening "dragging Main." They married on August 14, 1964, embarking on a 60-year journey filled with unforgettable memories including building their forever home, a residence D.B. personally designed, reflecting his passion for craftsmanship. Their lives were forever changed when they welcomed their son, Darin Dee.

Together, D.B. and Linda farmed in Golden Valley until 1996. Farming wasn’t just his livelihood—it was his passion, and he cherished every moment spent in the fields. For the last 20 years, he worked alongside his son, Darin, and the Ag-Rows crew. He was always ready to lend a hand—raking hay, running to get parts, moving trucks, and delivering diesel. D.B. was always thinking of others and would typically bring the guys a king-size candy bar, a bag of Lay’s potato chips, and a Pepsi, along with one helluva story from back in his day.

Dwaine was a devoted husband, father, a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, and often said “love you more than you know.” His five great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dwaine was a kind, patient, and soft-spoken gentleman who had a passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, snowmobiling, and woodworking. He also had a need for speed, racing cars with his brothers-in-law and competing in snowmobile races in Moonstone, Logan, and West-Yellowstone, embracing the thrill of the ride and the beauty of the outdoors wherever he went with his harmonica in his shirt pocket. His tales were always full of humor. A true collector at heart, he found joy in gathering tractors, crescent wrenches, pocket knives, tape measures, calculators, and candy bars. No matter where he went, he could always be found with a cold soda or beer in hand.

D.B. was blessed with two bonus sons, Zane and Zack Gillette, he fostered a deep bond with them from a young age.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Linda Baker; his parents, Wade and Afton Baker; his brothers, Leland, Ronnie, Loren, Dennis; and his best friend, Jim Matthews. He is survived by his son, Darin Dee (Michelle) Baker; and his three beautiful granddaughters, Mckel Lee (Chris) Turney, McKenzi Kay (Casey) Miller, and Dylan Mika (Kage) Osterhout. He was further blessed with five great-grandchildren, Cash, Hebgen, Knox, Basin and Riot. He is also survived by his bonus boys, Zane and Zack Gillette; and his siblings, Larry (Radean) Baker, Rell (Sanie) Baker, Shirlene (LaMont) Anderson; along with numerous other beloved family members.

Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the kind and loving care given to Dwaine and our family. We are forever grateful for Hospice Visions.

Dwaine's life is a testament to hard work, dedication, and love for family. He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

The funeral will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, February 18, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where family and friends will be received from 10 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Morey’s Steakhouse after the burial.
