PAUL – James David “JD” Gill, a 61-year-old resident of Paul, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while hiking on the mountain trails he so loved.
He was born September 17, 1964. to James Ray “Jim” and Annie Lou Gill in Gooding, Idaho. He attended high school at Minico High School in Rupert. JD enjoyed rodeoing throughout high school and college. He completed an Electrician Apprenticeship in 1987.
JD moved to Nevada and met and married Yvonne Nannette Law on January 20, 1989, in Elko, Nevada, and they enjoyed 37 years together. JD and Yvonne had three children that they raised in Spring Creek, Nevada. JD enjoyed fishing and tying flies, hunting, camping, and reading western novels. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
JD retired in 2023 to their cabin outside of Salmon, Idaho, where he and Yvonne enjoyed exploring the mountains, lakes and the Salmon River.
JD is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his children, Tony (Jenna) Gill of Whitehall, Montana, Jacob (Brenna) Gill of Spring Creek, Nevada, and Shelly (Tyler) Farmer of Granite Falls, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Julia, Billie, Holly and Aspen; his siblings, Connie (Glen) Gill-Straubhaar of Burley, and Cindi (David) Nash of Spring Creek, Nevada; many nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and friends.
JD was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray “Jim” and Annie Lou Gill; a nephew, Joshua James Allen Nash; and granddaughters, Lucy Wren Farmer and JoJo Gill.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley.
Following the memorial service everyone is invited to a celebration of his life, hosted by his family, at Morey’s Steakhouse, located at 219 E. 3rd Street N., in Burley.
