Apr. 6, 1978 - Aug. 16, 2026
BURLEY – James "Jim" Richard Feeney Jr. beloved dad, grandfather, and friend suddenly departed this world August 16, 2026, at the age of 78.
He was born April 6, 1948, in Sacramento, California to Nancy and James Feeney, along with his two sisters, Debbie and Lynn.
Jim resided in Carson City, Nevada, until he went into the army for his first and only tour. He came back and met and married Lois Sumbardo; they had two sons while married, James Richard Feeney III and Norman "Chuck" Charles Feeney; they later divorced. He worked on Wayment farms in Burley, while his boys grew up and later moved to Reno, Nevada, to be closer to his mom and sisters, where he worked at Wells Fargo for many years. He decided that maybe city life wasn't for him and moved to Mountain City, Nevada, to work with his family on their ranch. Years later, he decided to move back and spend the rest of his life in Burley, where his boys and five grandchildren lived. He worked on Wayment's farm and dairy until he decided to retire.
Jim was outspoken, foul-mouthed and ornery as can be, but he truly loved his girls more than life. His daughter-in-law and granddaughters were everything to him after his eldest son’s passing years ago.
Jim survived by his daughter-in-law, Mickey Feeney; his son, Norman "Chuck" Feeney; his two sisters, Debbie (Bob) and Lynn (Robert); his three closest granddaughters, Jordon (Hector), Kyllie (Devon), and Kaitlyn (Carson), along with Jamey and Jordan; lastly, the lights of his life till the very end, his great granddaughters, McKenrie, McKoi, Saige, and Devyn Marie; and of course his grandpuppies who meant just as much to him as the human grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, Nancy and James; along with his eldest son, James Richard Feeney III.
Jim worked most of his life as a ranch hand or a dairy man; he was quite found of his work and truly did prefer animals over people most days. He enjoyed it until he truly couldn't do it anymore.
Jim may have been an ornery old man, but he had been the best papa to his girls that he knew how to be. He also was a beloved and cared for friend by many that were still close with him at the end. He will be deeply missed by his girls most of all.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
