HEYBURN – René Piper King, 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Heyburn, Idaho, on Thursday, April 2, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of the Mini-Cassia area.

René was born March 9, 1947, in Burley, Idaho, to Lester and Cleo Piper. Growing up in Burley, René was a spirited and active girl who found great joy in the outdoors. She often shared fond memories of snow skiing and golfing alongside her parents and close cousins in her youth.

Ultimately her life is defined by her heart of service and her deep love for her family. She has been the devoted wife of Ferril King for 60 years, a partnership built on faith and mutual devotion. Together, they shared a commitment to their faith, serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Diego, California, and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.

René was always willing to serve wherever she was needed, offering her time and talents with a generous spirit. While she cherished her travels and service with her husband, René expounded that love for her husband upon her children and grandchildren while magnifying her role as mother. She devoted her life to raising her six children, a role she considered her greatest accomplishment. To René, there was no higher honor than being a mother. She poured her heart into her family, creating a foundation of love and faith that will sustain them for generations.

René is survived by her husband, Ferril; and their six children, Tracy and Candace King, Troy and Keri King, Jenette and Burke Garner, Connie and Paul Figgins, Keri Jo King, and Clayton and Amy King. She also leaves behind a lasting legacy through her 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Cleo Piper; Ferril’s parents, John and Mildred King; her sister, Sharon Black; and her granddaughter, Tai Garner.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Emerald 2nd Ward, located at 300 South 500 West, in Heyburn. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, preceding the funeral, at the church.

From JERRY & ROANNE GILLETTE:
When we held a Stake Inservice night, for our YW, I had just returned from the same thing in Salt Lake. The most important message I came back with was, and shared at the start of the meeting, “this calling is important, BUT, your Family comes first. Rene’ got up and left our meeting, as her twin sons were playing a basketball game in the gym. I truly applauded her for showing us all what really mattered! Loved this strong woman!
From Myron & Jane Wilson:
Ferril , Rene' and their family are really good people. Always a joy to be around and associate with. Hardly any one knows of the people they have helped. The last few years have been a struggle for Rene' so now she will get some needed rest. May the Lord comfort your family.
From Kathy Thompson :
To all the King family. We are so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Nolan and Kathy Thompson
From Margarita Braegger:
I had the privilege of serving with her in the Young Women program in church. She had the most powerful lessons and shared her love of Christ to us all. She married a great man and raised a strong beautiful family and left a legacy of love. She was a fun lady. She was a great example of love for Life. She will be missed. Love to all of her family.
From Kathie and Rick Brown:
To all the King family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Rene was a sweet spirit and fun to visit with.
From Susan Toner:
Rene’ was a classmate, skiing buddy, and good friend of mine for many years. She had the kindest parents. Her dad would take us skiing whenever we had a whim. Ferril was so good to my friend, He will be mighty blessed for his care and love. Love you, Rene’
