Michael Thomas 'Mick' Oliver

Michael Thomas 'Mick' Oliver

Oct. 4, 1971 - Feb. 2, 2026

Date of Service: Feb. 13, 2026

BURLEY – Michael Thomas “Mick” Oliver, 54, known by many names—Bro, Michael, Mick, Papa, Cheeks, Pulo, Bick, Mickel, Too Hip Mick, Vanilla Ice, Michelob Ultra—passed away on February 2, 2026, leaving behind a trail of smiles, tears, laughter, and a long list of people who were absolutely convinced they were his favorite.

On October 4, 1971, Mick was born to the best damn parents, Debby and Roger Oliver and grew up alongside his older brother and first best friend, Kenneth—whose unofficial roles included protector, co-conspirator, and lifelong witness to Mick’s stories (most of which only improved with time). Kenneth spent years pretending to be in charge, while Michael ignored that entirely and did his own thing.

Michael had a rare and effortless gift for turning complete strangers into close friends—usually within minutes and without even trying. He married his high-school sweetheart, his soul-mate and lifelong best friend, Angela Denton, proving that true love (along with non stop laughter and banter) really does exist. Together they raised the best sons, Riley and Damon, who learned early on that showing up for family, laughing loudly, and finding adventure outdoors was simply the way to live. Riley and Damon later gave their dad the unexpected joy of becoming a “girl dad” to Paty and Little Angela. The crown jewel of Mick’s life was becoming Papa to Penny and Lucia, who had him completely wrapped around their little fingers—and honestly, he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Mick was known for his big-ass smile, quick wit, and an unmatched ability to make everyone feel welcome. He truly knew no strangers. If you met him once, you were a friend. He was mellow, approachable, and a genuinely good listener—the kind of guy who made people feel seen. If you met him twice, you were family. If you met him three times, he probably invited you over. He loved life at full throttle (627): tearing around dirt tracks on his Suzuki 250, working with his hands, fishing, hunting, motocross, BMX, snowboarding, snowmobiling, skateboarding, and asparagus hunting pro. He watched sports with passion and stayed fiercely loyal to the Chargers. Mick was the designated family cook, always with music playing—usually loud enough to become part of the conversation—providing the soundtrack to a life lived fully.

Mick leaves behind a big bunch of people and good friends that love him and will miss him endlessly – his parents, Debby and Roger Oliver; his soul-mate, Angela; sons, Riley (Paty) and Damon (Angela); granddaughters, Penny and Lucia; big bro, Kenny (Tammy); and gobs of family.

His life will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, at the Rupert Elks with the shenanigans beginning at 5 p.m. Bring a story, laughter, an appetite and be prepared to tip a glass.

The world feels a little quieter without him, but if you listen closely, you can still hear his laugh and “see him in the sunsets.” God couldn’t create a heart big enough—or a spirit tame enough—to grow old quietly. Maybe that’s why Mick didn’t….

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

From Ed:
This has been years ago; Mick was helping us haul into Box Canyon Dairy. He was weighing in and on those old peterbilts it was real easy to lock your self out. Well, Mick did it. Big line of trucks waiting to weigh in. Kenneth and I have laughed about that for years. Yes, we did get Mick out of it.
From Shay and Kim Watterson:
Angela…we are so sorry for the loss of your soul mate. We are thinking of you and your family!
From Steve morris:
I remember picking up Mick one morning we headed to the rock fishing cause I knew what I was doing. We got on the rock he caught his limit and I didn’t catch a fish when I borrowed his worm threader and I caught my limit. I learned something that day you’re never too old to learn. I never went fishing again without a worm threader priceless memories
From Jim Judd:
He was truly one of the good ones.
From Glenna Navarro/Kara Adams:
Our hearts are breaking for all of you.
From Raymond Cope :
I earliest memory is getting pulled behind his new chevy (red) on a hood around the block through the barrow pits and hookie bobbin behind the truck. So many memories took me to catrell riding my first time. I had to lead the pack through the wash out everyone laughing as we where all low on fuel and I spent more time picking my bike up in the rocky conditions and wash outs. Wouldn't change it for the world great experiences. Another one was when you could hear everyone down the block playing volleyball and just having a great time hooting and hollering. Never a dull moment the big 4th of July's.
From Lee Glaesemann:
So sorry to hear this. Mick was a great guy.
From Dave and Charity Chesley:
Mick was a great friend and we will cherish all the memories!!
From Red Robert Carrick:
I'm truly sorry for your loss. I can't understand why the good ones have to leave so soon. He was a good friend growing up and was fun and exciting. I'm so sorry for your loss. The Olivers will always be in my heart.
From Richard Lujan :
I'm at a loss, when I got word my mind just absolutely raced through so many childhood memories on and around various tracks. Riding and being crazy kids. At the same time my heart has a hallow place. I haven't seen Mic for a while but when I see him he never let me feel a stranger. Just his big smile and a joke or two.
My deepest condolences doesn't even cover it. I'm so sorry y'all. I pray God brings you peace and strength in each other in this time of loss.
From Heather Lynn Dansie:
I am so very sorry for your loss, my heart breaks for all of you. He will be remembered. I have so many great memories, working with him at the marina, to him working with my son, going to the sand dunes with everybody back in the 90s. He will be missed and I'm sending many prayers and much love.
From Brent Koyle:
I’m so sorry for your loss. Mick was amazing.
