BURLEY – Martin Melvin “Marty “ Anderson, 80, of Burley, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. Luke’s, surrounded by the family and dear friends who meant everything to him.

Marty was born in Burley to Melvin Henry and Rhea Judd Anderson, their one and only — a role he carried proudly his entire life. He grew up in Burley and graduated from Burley High School in 1964. Soon after, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride.

On February 22, 1975, he married the love of his life, Pamela Pollard. They would have celebrated 51 years of marriage this month — a love story built on loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of shared memories. From that love came their greatest joy, their daughter, Meggan Joy.

Marty spent most of his working life in the grocery business for decades, starting at Shelby’s, then Smith’s, before deciding he was ready for something a little different. That led him to John’s, then Wonderbread, but groceries were always in his heart. He eventually found his stride again in produce, working several years at Stokes before managing the produce department at Walmart, where he retired due to health challenges. If you ever got perfectly picked produce, there’s a good chance Marty had something to do with it.

When he wasn’t working, Marty loved the outdoors. In his younger years you could find him fishing, riding motorcycles, and cruising in his yellow GTO.

Marty is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 51 years, Pam; his daughter, Meggan; his beloved fur grandbaby, Millie Mae; and his best friend, Dean, whose lunch dates meant the world to him — even if conversations sometimes required a little extra volume and a lot of patience.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Marty had a well-known love for his pop, and in true Marty fashion, he enjoyed a Diet Pepsi right down to his final minutes with us. It was simple, it was him, and it was perfect.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered every time a cold soda cracks open, a fishing line hits the water, or someone takes the time to pick out the very best piece of fruit.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, where family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, and one hour prior the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Declo Cemetery with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.
