RUPERT – Helen Ann DeWald, 92, of Rupert, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord with her loving husband, Lou, by His side on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Helen Ann McMurray was born July 26, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gomez “Mez” McMurray and Helen Quinn.

After her previous marriage, upon which this union brought Mark, Matt and Maureen, she married the love of her life, Louis DeWald, of Rupert, in 1970.

During her time as a homemaker she was an active member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, sang in the choir and was a Liturgy Committee Chairman for five years. She was also a member of the Red Hatters (Red Hat Society), volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital and coordinated Red Cross blood drives for 35 years.

Ann enjoyed sewing, playing bridge and her volunteer work.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis DeWald; son, Matt DeWald; and step-daughter, Amy Oyler.

She is survived by her sister, Susan McMurray Abbey of Vancouver, Washington; son, Mark (Benny) DeWald of Baytown, Texas; daughter, Maureen Conley of Salt Lake City, Utah; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ann’s family would like to thank the staff at Pomerelle Place for the wonderful care they provided the last eight years, as well as Hospice Visions for caring for Ann in her final days.

The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 10 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral Mass celebration at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Rupert, located at 802 F St., in Rupert, with Father Camilo Garcia as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
