BURLEY – Shauna Lee (Barger) Reiter, a 54-year-old resident of Burley, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, November 6, 2025, due to health complications.

Shauna was born on June 14, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Clifford Michael Barger and Martha Lee Matheny. Due to her small size at birth, she was affectionately given the nickname “Tinky Pinky.” Her family moved to Eldridge, Missouri, in August 1975, and lived there until February 1981, when they moved to Burley, Idaho. She was taught the piano and soon excelled, finding joy in playing popular songs she heard on the radio. Shauna was active in basketball, softball, volleyball, tetherball, and many other games and sports as she grew up, where she was known to be quite competitive. She continued to have this competitive streak and was resistant to losing throughout her life.

Shauna’s family experienced financial hardship during her childhood, which motivated her to develop a strong work ethic. She began working in her early teens, including selling Girl Scout cookies, working at a snow cone stand, and serving as a cashier at a convenience store.

After living in Burley for a while, Shauna's parents divorced, and she gained both a stepmother, Diane Barger, and more siblings.

She was married to Dean Allen Reno in 1988, and they were blessed with a son, Trevor Dean Reno, in 1989. Shauna demonstrated resilience as a teenage mother and successfully graduated with her class from Burley High School in 1989. Shauna and Dean later divorced.

As a young mother, Shauna juggled work, college and parenthood. She was committed to furthering her education and graduated as a Respiratory Technician from Boise State University in August 1991. Shauna was the first in her family to continue her education post high school. She worked as a respiratory therapist and eventually managed the hospital’s respiratory department and sleep lab. She knew her patients by name and often reflected on those lives she saved as she served there.

Shauna met her husband, Bryan David Reiter, in 1994, while working at Cassia Regional Medical Center and the Racquetball Club. Shauna and Bryan were married on December 16, 1995. He welcomed her son, Trevor, with open arms, becoming not just a stepfather but a true father in every way that mattered. They expanded their family with the birth of Mallory Lee Reiter in 2001, and welcomed Andrew “Drew” Bryan Reiter into their home in 2003. Their family bond brought great happiness to Shauna and filled their home with love.

After breaking her back in a horse riding accident, Shauna started a long road of physical and emotional challenges. Over the course of nearly 30 years, she suffered through a variety of illnesses and injuries, spent countless nights in hospitals and care centers, endured dozens of surgeries, and visited many doctors searching for relief and answers.

Beneath the surface of Shauna’s challenges, compassionate nature and unwavering determination remained evident. Shauna always prioritized holidays and special events knowing the physical price that she would pay in the days that followed.

Shauna consistently demonstrated generosity by thoughtfully giving gifts at occasions such as holidays, baby showers, and birthdays. She showed compassion for those who were ill, organizing fundraisers, assisting with household tasks, and creating uplifting artwork and thoughtful crafts. Shauna valued holidays, celebrations, and opportunities to spend quality time with family. She found the most joy when spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.

Shauna will be remembered for her unwavering strength, compassion, and generosity. She touched countless lives with her kindness and perseverance, constantly thinking of others even in the face of her own challenges. Whether through her devoted care for family, her tireless work in her profession, or her ability to bring joy to every celebration, Shauna’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the countless doctors, nurses, and medical professionals that helped provide care for Shauna through her challenges.

The family feels there are no words that can ever express their gratitude to the innumerable visiting teachers, ministers, bishops, friends and neighbors that served Shauna and her family with so very much love. There is simply no way to thank you for what you have done, but the family will always cherish your kindness, compassion, patience, charity, and sacrifice.

Shauna is survived by her husband, Bryan David Reiter; her children, Trevor Dean (Aubry) Reno (Burley), Mallory Lee Reiter (Burley), and Andrew Bryan Reiter (Declo); her beloved grandchildren, Alivia, Hannah, Tate, and Delylah; her father, Clifford Michael (Diane) Barger (Declo); her mother, Martha Lee Brubaker (Meridian); her siblings, Michael Jason Barger (Florida), Betsy Jo (Stan) Visser (Twin Falls), Diane Renee (Dave) Pugmire (Boise), Charmaine Michele (Brent) Grigg (Florida), and Daniel Troy (Whitney) Barger (Rupert); and her step-siblings, Nathan David (Laurie) Greenleaf (Utah), Heather Keller (Rupert), Melissa (Trever) Morris (Burley), Isaac John William Mayfield (Rupert), and Seth James Mayfield (Utah).

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Burley Idaho West Stake Center, located at 2420 Parke Avenue, in Burley, with Bishop Cade L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, preceding the funeral, at the church.
