Carma Lea Cagle

Feb. 1, 1954 - Oct. 12, 2025

Date of Service: Oct. 22, 2025

BURLEY – Carma Lea Cagle (Bubba), a 71-year-old resident of Burley and formerly of Albion and Malta, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Paul.

Carma was born February 1, 1954, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Harry Warren (Chris) and Mable Sara (Joy) Gauchay Cagle, joining her brother, Rick, and sister, Christine, to complete their family. She lived in Dubois, Idaho, until about age four. Her family then moved to Albion where she spent most of her life. She returned to Dubois every summer to help with the family cattle drives.

Carma loved the outdoors, especially skiing, hiking and fishing. Every winter you could catch her zooming down Pomerelle and, in the summer, she loved to hike the creeks in pursuit of that big rainbow or cutthroat trout.

Carma graduated from Declo High School and subsequently attended Boise State University and Idaho State University, thereafter. In the late 1970s she returned home to help run the family business, the Annie Laurie Inn. She was a beast in the kitchen and always demanded perfection. In 1988 the business sadly burned down and Carma went to work for JR Simplot Heyburn Plant. She remained there until the plant closed.

Carma never had children as she was too busy loving her nieces and nephews. To them she was known as Bubba. Bubba was the coolest and most fun aunt – always getting us into the craziest things. The adventures and stories we have with her will last for many generations to come.

Carma is survived by her nieces and nephews, Michelle Beck, Christopher Petersen, Pollyanna (Chris) Boesiger, Jennifer Willett (Tim Williams), Dustin (Addy) Cagle, Jamie Ray, and Mary Kay (Ken) Alkire; six great-nieces; 19 great-nephews; 23 great-great-nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Floy Robinson Hodges.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and her sister.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 889 S. Main Street, in Albion. Burial will follow at the Mormon Cemetery in Albion.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.

From Leon Clegg:
I have known Carma for almost 50 years. I worked for Triangle Young's Dairy back in the 70s and the Annie Laurie Inn was one of my stops. To say Carma was feisty is an understatement. Lol! We have been friends all these years. I knew Chris and Joy very well. Her dad was my coach in high school way back in the day. Many a dance and Jr. Prom dinners were spent at the Annie Laurie. Great memories. Thoughts and prayers to all the family of nieces and nephews. May our Heavenly Father comfort each of you at this difficult time.
