BURLEY – Gary Ardell King, a 71-year-old resident of Burley, passed away suddenly Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home.

He was born July 29, 1954 to Ruben R., and Raeola Darrington King in Rupert, Idaho. Gary grew up in the Mini Cassia area and graduated from Burley High School in the year of 1972. In 1983 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reserves for 16 years. He was honorably discharged as an operations specialist and petty officer 2nd class.

Throughout his life Gary enjoyed working at the movie theater, Skaggs Furniture, and as an adult, The United States Postal Service. Gary loved animals and had many pets. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. Gary was a strong believer in his Christian Faith.

Gary is loved and will be missed by his four daughters, Christina (Jose Alvarado) Salinas, Veronica (Jamie) Valdez, Alisa (Paul) Dome, and Jenny (James) Cottom; 17 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; his sister Betty Bufis, and his brother Rex King.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ana Maria King, his parents, and two brothers.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, September 8, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

We enjoyed our friendship with Gary as we saw him when he delivered our mail at Farmer’s Corner. He spoke often about his dear wife. It’s great to know he is able to be with her again. Our prayers for their family at this difficult time.

So sad to lose friends from our childhood. I grew up with Gary. Just a few blocks apart on the Northside of Burley. Overland school...knew his family well. My thoughts and prayers to his family. My heartfelt condolences as you navigate this very difficult time. I would chat once in awhile when we passed in town. Always saw him on his mail route and would stop and see how he was doing. May our Heavenly Father comfort you all and know you will see him again.

I honked at Gary around 3:00 Sunday. He was pulling in his driveway. I would have stopped but I was headed to work. He was so good to go see my Mom. He was our forever friend. My Dad thought the world of him. My Mom is so sad. She said “ I’ve lost my true friend” we are thinking of you and may God bless all of you.
