Apr. 12, 1932 - Aug. 23, 2025

Date of Service: Aug. 27, 2025

BURLEY – With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Richard Torrez Nevarez Sr., who passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 93, at Highland Estates in Burley, Idaho.

Richard was born on April 12, 1932, in Montell, Texas, to Polo Nevarez and Maria De Jesus Torrez. He attended school until the 8th grade and went on to work as a skilled sheep shearer, a trade he carried with pride and dedication throughout his life.

On June 17, 1955, Richard married Maria Magdalena Gonzalez in Uvalde, Texas. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children: Richard Nevarez Jr., Maria Noelia Nevarez (Nellie) Rosalez, David Nevarez, and Marisol Nevarez Duran. Richard and Maria shared 46 devoted years of marriage until her passing in 2001.

Richard was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. He was a longtime member of the Rupert Bilingual Baptist Church, where his faith and community were an important part of his life.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren, all of whom will carry on his legacy of perseverance, humility, and love. His memory will live on in the lives he touched with his kind heart, hard work, and gentle presence.

He will be missed deeply but remembered always.

A family graveside committal service will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at Gem Memorial Gardens , located at 2435 Overland Ave., in Burley.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Richard’s memory in your own way, perhaps by offering a kind gesture to someone in need or reflecting on a cherished moment shared with him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
