CONNOR CREEK - Sue Carrol Henrikson Ward, 95, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by her family, at her home in Connor Creek, Idaho.

She was born November 15, 1929, in Boise, Idaho, to Earl Carlene and Gwenfred Nadine (Burch) Henrikson. She married George Osmer Ward Jr. on December 31, 1947, in Boise, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 16, 1952.

Sue Carrol transitioned from her city upbringing to life on the land with George, embracing the challenges of rural living with strength and grace. The couple lived in several places, eventually settling in Connor Creek, where they built a life together.

A devoted mother and wife, Sue Carrol was inspired to pursue nursing after George suffered a back injury. She earned her LPN at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington and RN credentials from Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington, in 1969. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years in Othello, Washington; Burley, Idaho; Rupert, Idaho; and in an OBGYN clinic before retiring at age 65.

Sue Carrol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in multiple church callings. She was well known in her community for her homemade glazed donuts, maple bars, and especially her famous Christmas chocolates—confections she lovingly made for over 60 years and generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors.

Even into her 90s, Sue Carrol remained active, spending her time crocheting towel toppers and potholders and amazing quilts for her loved ones. She will be remembered for her creativity, work ethic, strong faith, and deep love for her family.

She is survived by her children, Karen Ferguson (Jerry), Danny Ward (Brenda), Gayla Ward, David Ward, and Sandra Allred (Eric); siblings, Anita Armour, and Carl Henrikson; along with 41 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gwendfred Henrickson; husband, George Ward; sister, Alice Reese of Tucson, Arizona; and daughter-in-law, Alicia Ward.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1198 East 2000 South, in Elba, with Bishop Austin Udy officiating. Burial will follow at Grand View Cemetery in Elba.

Family and friends will be received from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, preceding the funeral, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home.

Such a great and grand lady! Her and George were in our ward in Burley for many years. Sweet and caring people. When our last child was born, my wife had several health issues going on. Sue Carrol would come down and check and help her and our newborn get well. It was so kind of her and was so very much loved and appreciated. Our sincere thoughts and prayers to all their sons and daughters. What a great mother you have! She had a great life full of service and love. May our Heavely Father comfort you all. What a great plan to have. George was waiting to greet her. All our love!
