BURLEY – Flora Anne Christian, an 89-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley.

Anne was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, to John Stewart Shortt and Lillian Maude Plant Shortt. She had three siblings, Bud Shortt, Frank Shortt, and June Shortt McPherson. She spent her childhood roaming the Coulee Hills on her horse “Rusty.” Anne loved animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.

After graduating high school, she met a handsome young man, Jan Arlen Christian, from Raymond, Alberta, and after falling in love the two were married. Jan joined the United States Army, which took the young family to Salt Lake City, Utah. To this union they were blessed with three children, Mitchell Davis Christian, Valerie Anne Christian (KayC Jones), and Lorelei Dawn Christian (John Reeves).

After Jan was discharged from the Army, they moved to Burley, Idaho. Anne worked for Cassia Regional Hospital for many years. After she retired, she enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.

Anne is survived by her children; and seven grandchildren, Matt, Jaxson, Jesse, Luke, Chad, Colton and Jason; along with six great-grandchildren, Madison, Karsen, Tucker, Rebel, Lexi and Jett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jan; her daughters-in-law, Gaye Christian and Cindi Christian; and her siblings.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Burley Central Stake Center, 2050 Normal Ave., in Burley, with Bishop R. Todd Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, at the church.

I so loved Anne. She was always so generous and kind. She definitely was an angel in a lot of our lives. She will be missed but I am so grateful she is finally reunited with Jan. What a reunion she is having. Love you Anne!!!

This just makes me sad. Aunt Anne was such a cool lady. She was the last of Grandma Shortt's kids, now she has joined her siblings and parents. Aunt Anne had the best laugh ever...her heart was so tender and kind. Her essence on this earth will be missed. Mitch, Val and Lori, I hope the memories overflow the grief. Peace to you all.
