BURLEY – Ida Kay Heffington, an 83-year-old Burley resident, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Highland Estates Assisted Living in Burley.

Kay was born May 20, 1942, in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of Merlin Benjamin and Alta Bell (Rose) Osterhout. She attended Burley Schools and graduated from Burley High School, thereafter receiving her LPN certification.

She married Donald Richard Eddings in 1960 and to this union three children were born: Donald Richard Eddings Jr., Barbara, and Connie. They later divorced in 1979. Ida later married Russell Morris Lloyd, which union lasted until his passing; then she married Duane Heffington, which union also lasted until his passing.

Throughout her years as an LPN, Ida formed many relationships and gained much knowledge working for Doctors Walter R. Pertersen, Joseph L. Barefoot, and Wayne Blauer.

Kay had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed camping, motorcycling, and snowmobiling. She also loved competing in the truck pull events in her old red Ford named Summer Magic.

She was also skilled at sewing and crocheting and she was an avid reader and bowler.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized July 30, 1954.

Kay is survived by her children, Donald Jr. (Polly), Barbara, and Connie (Gary); brother, Larry (Viki) Osterhout of Burley; grandchildren, Zach Miller, Anthony (Maira) James, Meagan (Andrew “Hopper”) Becker, Travis (Shannon) James, and Tyler James; step-grandchildren, Kara (Randy) Crowley, and Krista Lewis; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and brothers, Lyle Osterhout, Scott Osterhout, and E.J. Osterhout.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon, Saturday, August 23, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Burial will follow at Declo Cemetery.
