PAUL – Robert Curtis Davis, a 55-year-old resident of Paul, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025. Robert proudly served in the United States - Idaho Army National Guard from 1988 until 2017, retiring as Master Sergeant.

Robert was born December 29, 1969, to Merlin Clyde Davis and Caroline Ruth Riedlinger Davis in Burley, Idaho. He had five siblings and grew up in Paul, Idaho. Robert received his education at Paul Elementary, West Minico Junior High, and graduated from Minico High School in 1988. He had a passion for playing sports and especially loved the game of basketball.

Robert joined the Idaho Army National in 1988. After attending basic training and Advanced Individual Training, he settled in the Mini-Cassia area and was a civilian soldier for the Idaho Guard. When he was not training as a soldier, he was a certified welder for Pickett Equipment and Idaho Equipment and Sheet Metal. In 1993 he went active duty for the Idaho Guard.

Robert married Monica Adams on June 3, 1994, at the Burley United Methodist Church, they had three children, Brynn, Lucas, and Katie.

Robert coached at Burley High School with Coach Gordon Kerbs before transferring to Boise, Idaho, with the military. While in Boise, Robert worked with the Idaho Guard and continued with coaching high school basketball. He loved kids and the chance to coach and teach the sport he loved just as much as shooting tanks.

In 2019 Robert and Monica returned to the Mini-Cassia area where Robert worked at Double Check Supply Company, remodeled the house that he and Monica called home, rekindled old friendships, made new ones, and cherished the role of “Opa.”

Robert will always be remembered for being his family and community’s superman…

Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Monica Davis; children, Brynn (Shaun) Shireman, Lucas (Jamie) Neibaur, and Katie (Preston) Halfacre; six grandchildren, Hunter, Ashtyn, Saylor, Jachin, Collin and Eben – with the seventh grandchild arriving in July 2025; his mother, Caroline Riedlinger Davis; four siblings, Gerri (Randall) Funk, Steve (Carol) Davis, Karen (Lynn) Gunnell, and Coleen (John) Jones; his mother-in-law, Mardene Adams; sister-in-law, Rhonda Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother; his father, Merlin Davis, and father-in-law, Richard Adams.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Grace Church, located at 100 N. Meridian Rd., in Rupert. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army National Guard.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and at the church on Monday, from 10 until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robert’s name at the Rupert Elks Lodge BPOE #2106, P.O. Box 453, Rupert, ID 83350. Donations can also be made at the lodge.

Robert was a great friend to our family. Growing up he spent lots of time in our home with my brother Kip. He was just like another brother to me. He would tease me all the time but I knew he was just joking. He always called me Shell. Robert had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. I just saw him a few days before his passing and I did not get over to where he was sitting to visit with him. I have regretted that since I heard of his passing. If you are urged to go talk to someone do it. I know we will see Robert again and I am grateful for that knowledge. Big hugs to his sweet wife and all of his family.

From Beckie (Buchanan) Patterson:
There are no words! And yet there are so many. Monica, Caroline, Colleen, and your entire family, you have our continual prayers and may the Lord carry you on the wings of Angels until you can breath and walk again. Learning to laugh as Robert would want it. Robert's light was so bright it will continue to shine through his children, gbabies and family. From a cute little guy in a car seat on a school bus, who had a huge smile and infectious laugh, with big sister close by watching over him, mom watching in the mirror, to reconnecting a couple times at our local basketball game, where Robert was reffing. Memories of love, kindness, and above all friendships. I moved to Idaho in May of 1988, you were one of the first I met. A year later you were asked to be God Father for our first child. You were so humbled to be asked but we were so proud to have you for our daughter and then the children to follow. One of the best weddings I've been to was the two of you!
