BURLEY – Carol Jacobsen Ramsey Stout, an 89-year-old resident of Burley, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Carol was born on January 8, 1936, in Burley, Idaho, to Charles (Jake) and Bertha Birch Silcox Jacobsen. Carol was raised in Burley, where she attended schools and graduated in 1955. On May 29, 1955, she married David Ramsey in Elko, Nevada, and they were sealed as a family in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 6, 1960.
Carol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held several leadership positions in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary.
Together, Carol and David served in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission, working at Sixth Crossing and Martins’s Cove, Wyoming for 18 months. Professionally, Carol worked at the Cassia and Minidoka Hospitals in the laboratory and medical imaging departments. Even after retiring, many women continued to call, requesting her to perform their mammograms. She also briefly worked for Ramsey Produce.
She enjoyed traveling, exploring, and camping with family and friends. She spent many summers camping at Redfish Lake which was one of her favorite places. She also loved to plan get-togethers to celebrate life events.
After David’s passing, Carol and her friend, Sally Christian, decided to serve a mission together, where they worked in Comanche, Texas, microfilming courthouse records for FamilySearch.
Carol married the next love of her life, Leon Stout, on March 6, 2010. They also served a mission at Cove Fort, Utah, in 2013. They enjoyed many happy years together until her passing.
Carol is survived by her husband, Leon, of Burley; her children, Kevin (Karen) of Toole, Utah, Karen Ramsey Bates of Boise, Brent (Pam) of West Jordan, Utah, Jason (Anne) of Chubbuck, and Aaron of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, plus her bonus family who loved her dearly, Greg (Alisa) of Twin Falls, Debbie (Dave) Hansen of Burley; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is also survived by her brother-in-law, Art (Karen) Ramsey of Burley; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Ramsey of Danville, California, Virginia Jacobsen of Wisconsin, and Sally Jacobsen of Jerome; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David; her parents; her sister, Betty Workman; her brothers, Elvernon (Vern), Dean, and Terry; and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Unity 2nd Ward, located at 275 S. 250 E., of Burley, with Bishop Lee Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Saturday, at the church.
