BURLEY – Thomas “Tom” Warren Priest, 73, died of natural causes at the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho, on April 3, 2025.
Tom was the oldest child of Thomas Gene Priest and Barbara Jean Warren. He was born in Burley, Idaho, on October 2, 1951. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in the South Hills of Burley. He was an avid hunter when he was younger and said his favorite time of the year was always fall. He enjoyed hunting everything from rock chucks to pheasants to deer to coyotes and even a fox. When hunting was not an option, he could be found camping, tying flies, fishing or practicing his archery skills. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, jeeps, and the feel of a new truck. Later in life he took up the game of golf, and his favorite time of the year became any time he could be on the Burley Golf Course. He spent many happy hours golfing with family and friends. He loved the game so much that he would spend hours watching golf tournaments on his television.
He graduated from Burley High School in 1969, and went on to attend at Ricks College and Idaho State University. He worked at Boise Cascade for many years before trying other forms of employment such as carpentry and cabinet installation. He had beautiful penmanship, was very good at math, and had a keen eye for detail.
He was the proud father of two daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He loved to share with anyone who would listen, as he would talk non-stop about his family and their accomplishments for hours.
He is survived by his daughters, Charlece Baker of Spring, TX, and Tiffanie Barrus of San Diego, CA; his father, Gene Priest of Burley; siblings, Kirk (LaNae) Priest of Burley, Cindy Bodily of Burley, and Kerry (Rick) Booth of Dammeron Valley, UT.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean Priest, in 2015.
There is a place in the human heart that is reserved just for him. Rest in peace and know that you will be missed and will be forever in our hearts.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the hospital staff at St. Luke’s for their tender and professional care for Tom and his family.
Tom’s wishes were to be cremated and that no formal funeral service be held. His ashes will be scattered by his daughters at Priest Lake, Idaho, at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to any charity that would help those who are truly in need.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
