Janet, Bonnie, Jeff and Bill:
Your Dad’s goodness certainly preceded any knowledge I had of him! I first became acquainted with his name when I was a missionary in England - about 8-10 years after he had been there. When people heard my name - Coltrin, they asked about Elder Horace Coltrin. He’s been a good man his whole life!
After I moved to Burley and actually met him, it felt like I’d always known him.
He’s such a good, kind, caring, smart, fun, loving, faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Nearly perfect! I have many good memories of our visits to your home. I must have done something right to be associated with such a fine man. I’m a better person because I got to rub shoulders with him.
From Mike Matthews:
One of the greatest men I have had the privilege of not only knowing, but having learned from! He was a stellar person in his work, his service, his faith, and his family. It was an honor and privilege to have learned from him as a student, learned from him as my boss, learned from as a person, and remember him as a friend.
From ALAN REICH:
To the Coltrin Family, what can be said about one of the most dearest men I was ever associated with. I met Horace while I was visiting the Burley area for my employment. He was working on his RV-6 experimental airplane at the time we met. I was an aircraft mechanic in the USAF and was privileged to assist Horace several times helping him build his plane in the evenings and share my technical expertise. After completion, he was gracious enough to share it with me. We went on several enjoyable local flights. I knew Horace for over 30 years. He was one of my best friends. We remained friends even after he sold the plane. Since I lived so far away, I would call him to check up on him. On my travels, I would visit him and Jean when I was in the area. I will miss my friend but now he is with his sweet bride, Jean. Thank you for sharing him with me. Please pass on my sincere condolences for your loss.
From Kelly and Jan Kidd:
A great man and a great leader. Horace hired me to teach and coach at Declo High. His influence in those first crucial years set me up for success. His interest in what Jan and I accomplished at school never ended, he sincerely cared for us. He was so happy when we finally joined his ward these last few months. I will miss him and his smile and always cherish his memory.
From Celson Martins Silva:
O Pai Celeste, Conforte toda a Família! Abraço a todos
From L D Sager:
We have lost a great man. Horace was my Senior English teacher in high school and it was so entertaining to hear him talk about his flying exploits. He was definitely unafraid to take chances in life. Perhaps the biggest gamble he bet on was hiring an inexperienced and unprepared prospective pedagogue to “teach” young people at Declo High School. I will be forever grateful for his oversight and obvious disregard for any professionalism on my part. His calming demeanor definitely off set my irascible and unpredictable behavior. I will be forever thankful for his confidence in me. It was an honor and a privilege to work with him. My sincere condolences to the Coltrin family. Imagine how high he can fly now!!!!
From Al and Lori Chapa:
Sending our condolences and prayers of comfort to Bonnie, Dee, and family.

From Dave and Barb Francis :
I grew up in Springdale, I've known the Coltrins my whole life. May you find peace.
From David Price:
If you disliked him, something wrong with you. Susan and I moved to the area 49 years ago. We always looked up and respected his family and leadership in the church. He loved flying and was good at it. Great long life.
From Todd & Linda Barney :
We have such fond memories of Brother Coltrin. He always greeted us with a huge smile and kind words. Such lovely memories. We have a great love for him and his family.
From Nola Asher:
Love to you all and may peace fill your souls. Horace and Jean were close friends in Springdale and treasured in our hearts. So grateful to have been inspired by their strength and love.
From Gaylen and Carolyn Smyer:
We are saddened to learn of Horace's passing. We were both positively influenced by his teaching and example in the school and community. He was a gifted teacher and administrator. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father. He loves his family and they are a living legacy of this great man. He served his family, community, church, and nation. His wit and sense of humor will be missed. His counsel was always appropriate and appreciated. To the Coltrin family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at the loss of this good man. May the Lord comfort your family in the coming weeks and months. And may you have fond memories of an exemplary life lived to its fullest.
From Karen Christenson:
I had the privilege to work with Mr. Coltrin for one semester that I was asked to teach at Declo Jr. High. I greatly appreciated his calm, kind, and honest guidance. I am happy to learn that he is Bonnie Jones father. You must have had a wonderful family. Please accept my and Norvel's condolences. There is only "happy" sadness with such a long life well lived.
From Idaho State Veterans Cemetery Blackfoot:
