HEYBURN – Janice Jane Gransbury, an 81-year-old resident of Heyburn, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, at her home in the arms of loved ones. She was passed from our arms, into God’s.
Janice was born March 2, 1943, to Richard and Pauline Heyne Meidinger in Bismarck, North Dakota. Her younger brother, Jim Meidinger, followed Janice, and was born on March 17, 1946, in Linton, North Dakota. Janice was the happiest, sweetest, most beautiful girl. She was raised a devout Lutheran and lived her faith until her final day. Her family moved to Rupert, Idaho, in 1946. She attended Minico High School and met her mischievous, handsome husband, Howard Gransbury. They were married on December 28, 1960, and resided in Heyburn, Idaho. On June 14, 1961, they were blessed with a beautiful, blonde-haired daughter, Laura. Laura was the blessing that brought their love together. Four years later, on June 8, 1965, their son, Ronnie, was born. Ronnie taught them love, patience, and tolerance.
Howard and Janice enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with their friends. They purchased MACS Market in Heyburn in 1976, and ran it as a family. MACS taught them resilience. The store closed and Janice took a job as a teller for Bank of Idaho, which was then bought out by First Interstate Bank. First Interstate Bank was then bought by Wells Fargo, and then, following Wells Fargo, it was bought out by Zions Bank. She retired from Zions Bank where she had built a long lasting relationship with customers and co-workers. Janice took pride in her years as a teller and the lasting memories she had made.
The very best part of Janice’s life, called her Grandma. She loved being a grandma to her four grandchildren. Alissa, the oldest, was warm-hearted and always knew how to make her laugh. Ashley is her shy, tough as nails, athletic granddaughter. Brogan is her deep-hearted and loving grandson that she also raised as a son. Kayla is her dad’s mini-me and took after Ronnie in many ways. She is beautiful and charismatic in her life. Janice loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. There was not a moment she didn’t worry about all of them. She would always jump in to save the day in any way she could. She also, very much, enjoyed her time with her great-grandchildren, Micah, Korbyn, Khendyn, Channing, Laiten, Oakleigh, Tenzly, Lian, Bryly, and Asher, all brought her some of her happiest memories.
It was important to her to spend her last few days with her family. She listened to us laugh, cry, and heal in her final days before passing. A memory we will all cherish was the call she received from her great-granddaughter right before she passed. A tear slid down from her eye before she started taking what were her last breaths.
Janice was preceded in death by her mom and dad; her loving husband; and her precious son.
Janice is survived by her brother, Jim (Molly) Meidinger of Boise; her daughter, Laura (Rick) Jolley of Paul; grandchildren, Alissa Eames and Ashley Mecham, both of Paul, Brogan Gransbury of Heyburn; and Kayla Pratt of Twin Falls; ten great-grandchildren; and her beloved companion, Mitzy Gransbury.
In all the moments these past years, she taught all of us how to love with purpose. God bless you Grandma. May you always rest in peace.
Family and friends will be received from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Paul Cemetery.
