Jake Beni Neiwert

Nov. 9, 2000 - Jan. 31, 2025

Date of Service: Feb. 13, 2025

RUPERT – Jake Beni Neiwert, age 24, left this earth too soon on Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home in Rupert.

Jake was born November 9, 2000, in Burley, Idaho, the son of Lane Allen Neiwert and Karlynn Mari Gonzales. He had a huge heart and we all loved him very much. His nieces and nephews looked up to him and enjoyed spending time with him. Jake was their world! He loved to laugh and joke with everyone and was quite the comedian, at times.

Unfortunately, he did have demons he was struggling with as he tried to navigate his way on this earth. He suffered immensely with depression and drugs. Depression can kill, so keep your family close and try to help those that suffer with this awful disease. Jake, we hope you have found the peace and happiness that you deserve. We all love you!

Jake is survived by his mother, Karlynn Gonzales; brother, Alan (Felisha) Neiwert; two sisters, Masina (Skip) Garza and Shaleena (Juan) Gonzalez; paternal grandmother, Sylvia Neiwert; maternal grandmother, Dorothy “Dottie” Gonzales; his aunts, Tammy French and Bonnie (Kim) Johnstone; five nieces; three nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and nine cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lane Neiwert; paternal grandfather, Clarence Neiwert; maternal grandfather, Beni Gonzales; two aunts, Kuala Dúmé and Melanie Farmer; an older sister, Melinda Rose Garza; and a great-nephew, Atreüs Denton.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 13, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley.

There will be a celebration to honor his life at Doc’s Pizza, in Rupert, on Saturday, February 15, from 4 until 7 p.m.

Jake was a huge L.A. Lakers fan, so please feel free to wear Lakers attire to both the viewing on Thursday and celebration on Saturday.

The family suggests memorials be directed to a charity of choice in Jake’s name.

From DARWIN & LILA KNOPP:
Sylvia so sorry to hear about the passing of Jake. Our condolence to you.
From Shaleena:
Oh baby brother, the joy that you have created through your journey will never be forgotten. You never failed to bring a smile to my face, and the laughter and goofy side that came with you created pure bliss. I will forever have your silly laugh burned into my ears, I refuse to forget it. Your smile lit up a room within an instant. I will treasure each memory that I hold so close, and each one that comes later will be nothing short of a golden treasure. Be at peace my baby brother. Rest easy. Be free. Give dad the biggest hug from me please. Till we meet again, keep everyone on their toes.
From Dora Labrum :
I'm sorry for your loss Masina and Shaleena.
From Beni Kris Gonzales:
I did not know my nephew well. Living in a different state does not afford me the luxury of spending a lot of time with any of my family. The past years have been more like snap shots in a photo album, visiting home and seeing small children and then, on the next visit, seeing teens, then young adults...snap shots in a photo album. That's the way I remember Jake. First as a toddler, then a kid showing me the tricks he could do on his bicycle, later, briefly as a young teen who didn't like fish or seafood and then even more briefly, as a young adult at Lal's (Kuala) memorial service. Snap shots...
I wish I had known Jake better, I wish I had known him the way you all did. I know you all loved him dearly, so just as you loved him, love one another...hold each other up when your hearts are hurting, provide each other shoulders to cry on...and always, always remember Jake. All my love and God bless you and Jesus hold you all.

Childhood friend, it’s a shame I didn’t get to spend time with you more. Neither of us could’ve predicted the last time we’d be playing around the neighborhood together; but things change and we grow apart. Unfortunately, that’s how life is I send my condolences to your family and may we meet again old friend, RIP.
