MALTA ā€“ Janet Parke McFarland, an 87-year-old longtime resident of Malta, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Janet was born August 18, 1937, in Tremonton, Utah; the first of two children born to Ether and Norma Parke. She lived many places in the northern Utah area as they moved often. Her father worked for various cattle outfits before settling at the Rose Ranch in Snowville, Utah, around 1941.

Janet grew up on the Rose Ranch attending school in Snowville and later graduated from Bear River High School in 1955. She attended business college and worked for Western States Cat in Burley.

Janet met and married Kenneth Albert McFarland in 1971. She then moved to the farm in Malta where she lived until her death.

Janet was a very creative person who loved to crochet creating numerous works of art. Janet was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and captained the local camp many times.

Janet had three children: James Parke, Kenneth Arthur McFarland, and Tara Ann McFarland, whom she absolutely adored.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Ether and Norma Parker; her husband, Kenneth Albert McFarland; her son, James Parke; and her daughter, Tara Ann McFarland.

She is survived by her sister, Cecelia Hoggan; her son, Kenneth Arthur McFarland; and her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Parke.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ā€“ Malta Ward, located at 280 N. 1st St. West, in Malta, with Bishop Layne Schumann officiating. The interment will follow at Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service at the church.
