Brooks attended a life-skills program at Boise High School for two years before returning to Burley High School to graduate in 1991. In 1994 he graduated from the College of Southern Idaho with an associate degree.

He was active in the Burley United Methodist Church and other social groups in the area. Brooks also worked as an executive assistant for River Bridge Realty for approximately ten years.

He is survived by his brother, Dewayne (Tammy) Hondo; nieces, Aralyn and Sicily; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Dear sweet Brooks - Saying farewell to a childhood friend is one of the hardest moments in life. The memories our families built, the laughter we all shared, and the adventures we embarked on will forever be etched in my heart. You were a constant in my life for so many years, and though time and distance may have separated us, our bond will never fade. As you move forward to those golden gates, I hope you carry with you the love, joy, and all the beautiful moments we were able to create together. Farewell, my dear friend. You will always hold a very special place in my heart. Until we meet again. Rest in Peace. With all my love. Stephanie

Dewayne and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Brooks was always friendly and seemed glad to see us. We have fond memories of our interactions. We pray the Lord will comfort your family at his passing. Best wishes to all your family.
From Mary Beth Kraemer :
Oh, Brooks... I am so sorry to hear of your passing but more upset to hear of how depressed you were the last year of your life. We had such fun at church together. We would laugh and joke and even playfully flirt, much to your mother's chagrin. In later years, Stan and I would see you around town especially in restaurants. You always had a ready smile and happy greeting. You exemplified kindness and compassion. God's got you now and I bet it was a glorious reunion with your mom and dad!
From Sheila B. Adams:
I knew Brooks all his life from church and his real estate job. What a dry sense of humor he had. Always a tease! He handled his life struggles with a good outlook till his folks passed on. I hope their heavenly reunion was joyous
From Blythe & Jack Miller:
Brooks Hondo, you impacted so many lives around you including all of your cousins. Brooks had the best sense of humor, loved jokes and was always up for adventures! Snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, or just visiting with family. He was always great fun. His smile was contagious! I can see that his heart was broken with the passing of his mother then father. Brooks will always be loved and cherished.
From Renae and Fred:
So sorry to hear about Brooks passing. He was a special guy.
From Denise Snyder :
Brooks was a wonderful person he was always so fun. Years ago we used to volunteer our time at Vacation Bible School and he liked to pick on me and I like to pick on him. Although I didn't see him often when we would see each other we would just start talking and laughing and giggling like no time had passed. I am so sorry for your loss he was a wonderful person. I will miss him. Rest in peace my friend.
From Sara Griffin:
A dear friend of mine, Brooks Hondo, passed away last night. Brooks always made me feel loved, and whenever I needed comfort, I would visit him at Grandma Baker's church. Brooks was 52 years old, a month younger than me. The loss of both his parents this past year deeply affected him. Brooks suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) at age six and his parents were his world; after his father's death, he stopped eating. While I know he is free from his earthly suffering and reunited with his parents, his passing is a profound loss. The world has lost a truly kind soul.
