BURLEY – Garth Michael Freymiller, an 82-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at Cassia Regional Hospital, in Burley, from unexpected health complications.

Garth was born on July 8, 1942, to Ray Irvin and Hulda Caroline (Johnson) Freymiller in Burley, Idaho. He and his sister, Linda, were raised on the family farm south of Burley in the View area. On November 2, 1961, he was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of his life, Jean Searle, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with three daughters, Natalie, Stacy and Michelle. Garth was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Elders quorum presidency, Sunday school presidency and working with the Boy Scouts.

Garth was raised on and continued to farm the family farm until 1980. After retiring from farming, he worked for the PCA and received his real estate license working as a real estate agent and broker. He also owned and operated Centennial Mortgage and GMF Financial Services for many years. At the time of his death, he was working as a property manager for a home rental company. Garth served on the board of directors for Unity Light and Power, serving as President of the board, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer. He was actively involved in the merger process to form United Electric and served as Secretary-Treasurer at United Electric.

Garth was full of life and enjoyed joking with his family and others. You never knew when that horn might honk as you’re walking in front of the car or when he might show up unannounced in his “hippie” wig!!

Garth is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Freymiller; his daughters, Natalie Franks, Stacy Miller (Stuart) and Michelle (Steve) Brecht; his grandchildren, Ian Blackburn, Mackenzie Cofer, Kylie Blackburn and Mandi (Trell) Dowd; and his sister, Linda (Lanny) Hansen. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Payzlee, Hadley, Bryxlie, Nolan, Nyla, Traecer and Tanner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Hulda Freymiller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orval and Gerry Searle; infant sister, Judy Freymiller; and a much-loved grandson, Joshua Cofer.

Dad always said “It will feel better when it quits hurting”, this is going to be hard to get feeling better from. We love you.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – View 1st Ward, located at 550 S. 500 E., of Burley, with Bishop Brent Stoker officiating. Burial will follow at View Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, December 8, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, at the church, prior to the funeral service.
