RUPERT – Kay N. Carlisle, age 72, of Rupert, peacefully passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, surrounded by his family at Park View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Kay was born in Preston, Idaho on March 25, 1952, to John and Lela Carlisle. He was the baby of the family, joining Neil, Volynn, and Lanny.
He moved to Heyburn prior to his first birthday. He attended Heyburn School, and later attended and graduated in 1970 from Minico High School.
He married his high school sweetheart, Beth Ann Korsen. Together they had three daughters, Jennifer, Emily, and Cassie. Many memories were made as a family and 28 years later they divorced. Years later, on July 30, 2014, he married Laura Parker. They were later sealed in the temple on November 7, 2015. They also divorced later.
Kay was a great guy and a friend to many but was as hard headed as they came and very set in his ways; it was basically his way or the highway. With the joke of “It’s a Carlisle thing.” He never ceased to be the one in the room cracking jokes, sometimes, being the only one that laughed.
He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond measure.
“Clutch” served 13 years on the West End Fire Department. He was a devoted firefighter and loved the camaraderie and brotherhood that went along with it. Our family shared many good times with our West End family.
He enjoyed yearly camping trips with family and friends. He also loved fishing, hunting ATVing, drag races, and he was an avid sports fanatic. In his younger years, he played football and baseball and later was a coach for several teams and played in a softball league. He also played in a band at one point in his younger years. His favorite teams were all based out of Seattle, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and The Seattle Kraken.
He worked various jobs throughout the years later becoming employed at Amalgamated Sugar where he worked for 23 years.
Kay is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Ploof, of Rupert, Emily (Arlin) McDonald, of Paul, Cassie (Seth) Daniels, of Paul; and his brother, Lanny (Linda) Carlisle, of Heyburn; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren whom he was very proud of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lela Carlisle; his sister, Volynn Uscola, his brother, Neil Carlisle; and his grandson, Peyton Walton Daniels.
The family would like to thank Park View Rehabilitation and Care Center for their amazing and caring hearts while caring for our daddy.
The funeral will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, December 4, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, with Bishop Derek Romer officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery.
