Service Program

RUPERT – Ronald Ray Rasmussen, a 78-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a brief illness.

Ron was born March 23, 1946, to Seth Ray and Maxine Jean Hedstrom Rasmussen at Holdrege, Nebraska. He lived in Minden, Nebraska, where he attended elementary school. The family moved to Rupert in March of 1957. He continued his education in Rupert and graduated from Minico High School in 1964. He was active in FFA, the football team, and ski club. He was also a pitcher for American Legion Baseball.

He married Faye West Herbold in 1985. They enjoyed more than 30 years of marriage together. During their marriage, they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time together with family and friends.

Ron worked for Morgan-Shillington Farms for several years in the fertilizer division. He managed the Cenex Fertilizer Co-op in Paul for most of his professional career.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fishing trips to Alaska. In retirement, he and Faye enjoyed fishing / RV trips to Brownlee Reservoir, the Oregon coast, Canada, and Alaska. Ron also took great delight in sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his nephews and later, his step-grandchildren.

Ron took pride in having the greenest grass, the most beautiful tulips and geraniums, and enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors in the spring and summer. He spent time daily riding in his Polaris RZR with his little Shih Tzu, Tiger, enjoying the surrounding farms and the natural beauty of the area. He did this in rain, wind, or shine because it was Tiger’s favorite thing to do!

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his spouse, Faye Rasmussen.

He is survived by his sister, Jeaneen (Ryan) Curtis of Boise; and nephews, Justin Curtis and Steven (Amanda) Curtis, also of Boise. Additionally, he is survived by Faye’s sister, Bonnie West; and Faye’s three daughters, Suzette (Johnny) Miller, Laura (Mark) Muzatko, and Angela (Aaron) Butcher. Ron had four step-grandchildren, Taylor Muzatko, Kody Miller, Madison Muzatko, and Kate Butcher. Ron always enjoyed catching up on everything the kids were doing and new happenings in their lives.

As per Ron’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, at Rupert Cemetery, located at 450 N. Meridian Road, in Rupert.

Family and friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the graveside service, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, in memory of Ron R. Rasmussen, memorials be directed to the Minidoka Animal Shelter Trust, 624 F Street, Rupert, ID 83350.
