ALBION – Thursday, October 31, 2024, on a beautiful fall day, Sue Ellen Bulloch Keller peacefully left this life to walk into the open arms of her parents, siblings, and loved ones. Their little “Susie” was finally home.
Sue Ellen was born January 30, 1940, in Cedar City, Utah, to parents Peter Fife and Eliza Ellen Nelson Bulloch. Her father was a rancher, who raised cattle and sheep; her mother was a florist who owned a shop in town. Sue was born towards the end of the Great Depression and the beginning of World War II, a difficult time for the family, but being the youngest of five children, she was loved and spoiled. Her sister, Peggy, thought Sue was sent to be hers alone…a best friend.
Sue Ellen attended school in Cedar City and was involved in numerous activities. She was a beautiful musician, who learned to play the piano by ear from her mother, who played for the silent movies. Sue was a creative writer and storyteller whose vibrant spirit touched us all. She had a rare gift for weaving tales that captivated the hearts and minds of her family, bringing to life characters and worlds we wished to be a part of.
Sue Ellen had a contagious zest for life. She radiated fun and energy, always ready to embark on an adventure or share a laugh. Her joy was particularly evident during cherished moments spent on Cedar Mountain at the Bulloch Ranch. As a child with her father and later with her family, on the mountain, she found solace, peace, and contentment. Those times were filled with laughter, storytelling, and music that echoed through the aspen trees.
She would marry and leave Cedar City living in Northern Utah, California, and finally settling in Idaho. But her heart remained on the mountain, and each time she visited she would take a rock home for her flower garden in Albion, Idaho.
Her family and friends remember her musical talent which she willingly shared with everyone. Her beautiful singing voice, choirs, and events blessed the lives of those around her. Because she always remembered her older brother, Robert, who was killed in WWII, Sue was extremely patriotic. She wrote a patriotic program that continues today. She was a part of her ward and served others through a variety of callings and assignments. She had a strong testimony of the plan of salvation and a loving Heavenly Father. She knew she would be reunited with her family again.
Although she struggled with dementia for the last few years, her family will always remember her sparkling personality, sassy comments, and cackling laugh. She was always ready with a hug, a kiss, or a snuggle with her cats in the living room. Yes, she was the happy “cat lady.” Her home was open to all, and she loved to talk and listen to others' life experiences. Her vibrant spirit touched so many.
Sue Ellen is survived by her children, Lori Lynn Callaway Clayson (Clair), Kristen “Kris” James Keller (Bree), and Lance Bulloch Keller (Erin); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a couple of great-greats, including one on the way that she will get to hug before he/she comes to earth.
Welcoming her to heaven is her husband, Lamond Benson Keller; Lori’s father, Doyle “Cal” Callaway; her parents, Peter Fife Bulloch and Eliza Ellen Nelson Bulloch; siblings, Kathryn Bulloch Hall (Boyd), Robert Nelson Bulloch (Corris), Wirth Bengt Bulloch (Dorothy), Treva Peg Bulloch Thorley (Howard); and son-in-law, Clair Leo Clayson. Let the party begin!
The family wishes to thank those wonderful nurses at Hospice Visions who loved and helped our mother, as well as the kind angels who assisted her at Grace Assisted Living Memory Care.
A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Albion City Cemetery in Albion, Idaho.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
