Service Program

BURLEY – Valentia Elizabeth Schindler, age 96, of Burley, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Pomerelle Place in Burley.

Valentia, Val, as she was known to everyone, was born February 14, 1928, in Merced, California, to William Andrew Stephens and Nancy Ann Davis Stephens. She was the youngest of many siblings.

She attended school up to grade twelve and then trained and worked as a dental assistant for a brief time.

She met John Schindler and was married to him in Reno, Nevada. During the next four years, they were blessed with three children, Lawrence Andrew, Nancy Jane and Allen Douglas. Due to John being employed as a farm worker in California, they lived on a farm and began raising their children. John became unable to work and support the family because he had PTSD from his military service, so Val became the sole supporter of three young children. She was a loving, caring and giving mother.

She became employed by a farmer for whom she operated his business office for many years. Later, she went to work for the county of Merced, California, as a data clerk until retirement.

She resided with her grandson, Kevin Norris and family in Rupert, Idaho, for approximately ten years and then moved to Pomerelle Place in Burley, Idaho, where she made friends with everyone. She enjoyed and participated in many activities especially the Bingo game.

Having lived to the age of 96 years, she was predeceased by her husband, John; all of her siblings; and two of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence and his wife, Debbie; her daughter, Nancy Norris and her husband, Donald; and her son, Allen and his wife, Marcie.

She had seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

We know that she is now happy in heaven reunited with all her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
