Service Program

RUPERT – Kuala Jan (Gonzales) Dúmé, a 65-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away suddenly Monday morning, July 29, 2024, at her home in Rupert.

Kuala was born October 7, 1958, in Rupert, Idaho, the first of three children born to Beni and Dorothy Gonzales. She grew up in the Mini-Cassia area and attended school in Heyburn and Rupert. Kuala graduated from Minico High School in 1977. She later attended College of Southern Idaho where she received her certificates in healthcare.

Throughout her life, Kuala worked at numerous places including Ace Hardware and as an in-home caregiver for the Spelius family, caring for Carol Spelius, whom she loved dearly until her final day. She later worked and retired from Super Suds Laundromat and Storage.

Kuala absolutely adored her family! She would spend months and months working on projects to give her family and friends as Christmas gifts including photo albums and recipe books with each recipe card personally written by herself. She loved to cook and bake–which usually ended up being enough to feed a small army rather than three or four people! In her spare time, Kuala enjoyed working on home projects and genealogy. Kuala was very, very strong in her Christian faith. She played guitar in church using many of her own songs to glorify God. She would often watch Christian artists on her tablet with her earbuds in, not realizing how loud she was actually singing! Her heart overflowed with love and happiness when she would get to spend time and talk with her family and friends.

Kuala was so very loved by her family and friends. She leaves behind her mother, Dorothy Gonzales of Rupert; her son, Dan (Trina) Martinez of Rupert; her sister, Karlynn Gonzales of Burley; her brothers, Kris Gonzales of Oregon, and Mike Farmer of Rupert; her granddaughters, Shantell, Sierra, Briseis, and Halie all of Rupert; her nieces, Masina (Skip) Garza of Rupert, and Shaleena (JJ) Gonzales of Burley; her nephew, Jake Neiwert of Burley; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Beni Gonzales; her sister, Melanie Alaina Farmer; her nephew, Atreüs Dayne Denton; and her niece, Melinda Rose Gonzales.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, at Grace Community Church, located at 100 N. Meridian, in Rupert, with Pastor Javi Lopez officiating.

A live webcast of the service will be available at graceid.org.

In addition to flowers, memorial contributions will also be accepted in Kuala’s name to: Extinguishers (a burnout fund organized by the East End Fire Department to assist families who have been impacted by fires, accidents, and to help families in need during the holidays) at 201-275 E. 8th Street South Rupert, Idaho 83350.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

I was so sad to hear this. Kuala was a beautiful person inside and out .. her dad and mine were good friends in our younger days. Rest easy my friend.
From Jimmy Weaver:
Kuala was such a special person. I remember us lying on her bed and reading the Bible as small kids, buying posters and coloring with Pastels and the car wreck coming down the mountain in Tenn. We did a WHOLE LOT OF PRAYING for her broken arm in that little old VW. Her favorite Barbecue Restaurant was Fresh Air in Jackson, Ga. Daniel you were just a toddler the last time I saw you. Now you’re a grown man with your hair changing colors. I pray that you will be strong and know that God will get you through this difficult time. Kuala certainly had faith in God as you know and your faith in God will get you through this dark time. My prayers are for all of you.
I will see you soon.
From Jann McCoy Beale:
My deepest sympathy to all of Kuala’s family. I always thought she was so beautiful with her long dark hair. I lived in the McBride Addition and her family on Alfresco Road. It’s been many many years since I seen her but I will never forget how genuine and sweet she was
From Darla (Sargent)Nelsen :
Kuala is synonymous for Joyful Friend! The things I love about Kuala were her loving eyes, genuine smile, honest laughter, her faithful heart and her infectious love of Jesus! If ever there were an obstacle in one’s life the first place she would turn was to the Lord! I have many fun memories of my Friend whose medicine for the ailments of life was the Love of Jesus! I remember a love song she wrote to Jesus and I can still sing it and I do still sing it to Him knowing the sweetheart who wrote it! I am happy for you my Friend to be held in the arms of Jesus and I know you will be one of the greeting company when God brings me home too ! I know you are leaving a vacancy in your home and community but I also know you sowed a lot of seeds that will grow and produce the same genuine Love for God here on earth. I’m looking forward to an amazing reunion when the Lord wills!!! I love you Friend!!!.
