TWIN FALLS – Lydia Castillo Torrez, an 81-year-old resident of Twin Falls, formerly of Declo, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Cenoma House, in Twin Falls, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Lydia was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose compassion and love was a guiding light in our lives. Born December 29, 1942, her amazing life story began, she was married October 3, 1961, to Juan Francisco Torrez Jr., with whom she shared a love story to rival the ages and tales written by our greatest writers and poets.

She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; and elder brother. She is survived by her children, Eugenio (Sheila), Ida (Erasmo), Eva, and Susana (Ricardo); two sisters; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lydia spent her life educating her family as well as children in Burley, at Burley Jr. High. She is remembered as a woman whose uniqueness and love can only be matched by her relentless ability to bring such pure joy and happiness to all who knew her.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, located at 802 F St., in Rupert, with the Rev. Father Camilo Garcia as celebrant. The interment will follow at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
