RUPERT– Colleen L. Kerbs age 95, of Rupert passed away, May 9, 2024, at Autumn Haven Assisted Living, in Rupert.
Colleen was born on March 4, 1929, in Burley, Idaho, to Mathew Peters and Esther Burkhead Peters Jensen. She spent her childhood growing up in the Springdale area.
Colleen married Bill Kerbs in1944, in Rexburg, Idaho, (they eloped). They lived in Rupert all their married lives. Together they had four children: Mike, Pat, Bob, and David P., all of whom attended schools in Rupert.
Colleen and Bill joined the Rupert Country Club when it first opened in 1962. They loved playing golf which inspired them to buy a winter home in Yuma, Arizona, where they played golf all winter. They would come back to Rupert every spring when it was time to plant the crops. Mom once hit a “Hole in One” at the Rupert Country Club tournament, where she won a car and a trip to Houston, Texas, to play in a national “Hole in One” tournament.
Mom was very artistic and creative. She might have been an interior designer if she would’ve had a career outside her home.
Colleen is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill Kerbs); and her son, Robert (Bob Kerbs).
Colleen is survived by her children, Mike (Ilene) Kerbs of Paul, Pat Kerbs Watrin of West Hills, California, and David P. (Christy) Kerbs of Kirkland, Washington. She is also survived by her brother, Dick Jensen of Paul; and her very dear friend, Julie Kerbs. She is blessed with nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Rupert Senior Center - Meals on Wheels.
The funeral, with burial to follow, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Paul Pine Chapel, located in the Paul Cemetery, at 573 W. 100 N., Paul, Idaho, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
