BURLEY – Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nola Belle Dummer Holyoak, 95, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Born August 3, 1928, in Quartzburg, Idaho, she was the second born of faithful and loving parents, William Oleen Dummer and Mary Delora Bates. Nola Belle spent her early years in Sugar City, Idaho, later moving to Burley, Idaho in her teenage years where she met the love of her life, Richard Lewis Holyoak. After dating for a few years, they married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for time and all eternity and have been married for 74 years. They lived in Utah for a short time before moving to Burley after Richard graduated from Utah State University. Nola Belle received her teaching degree from Idaho State University and started teaching after her youngest child started school. She taught elementary school in the Burley area for 23 years. They farmed in the Burley area, and then Jerome, before moving back to Burley in 1994.

Nola Belle lived a remarkable life filled with service to church, family, friends, and community. She blessed the lives of all around her with her amazing spirit, wisdom, and mastery of secular and spiritual knowledge. She also had an incredible work ethic, putting her heart into everything she did. Nola Belle loved being with family, writing poetry, reading, taking photos, doing family history work, traveling, and going to the temple. Her love of music was deep and very contagious! She sang in choirs and at home. Her children will always remember singing fun songs in the car everywhere they went. She also played the piano and loved to hear her family play and sing music for all occasions. She had a very strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ which she again shared with her children right before her passing.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; two sisters, Mavis Hanks and Eola Luke; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Steven R. Holyoak (Shawnie Valdez) of Heyburn, Mari A. Jones (Kay Jones) of Yakima, Wash., Robyn C. Baker (Dean Baker) of Filer, Del L. Holyoak (Kaylene Yost) of Jerome, Kent O. Holyoak (Connie Miller) of Twin Falls, and Denise Ash (Kevin Ash) of Highland, Utah; plus 33 grandchildren and 78 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day - Burley 7th Ward, located at 2200 Oakley Ave., in Burley. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
