BURLEY – Maria Louisa Vasquez Reyes (Ama) was born in Coyote, Coahulla, Mexico on March 19,1938. She received her wings at the age of 85, on May 28, 2023, in Burley, surrounded by her loved ones at home.

We are saddened to announce the passing of our grandmother, mother, and sister, Maria (Ama). Ama will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, she was an amazing, loving, caring person. She would go out of her way to help anyone in need. She had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up the whole room. She was the strongest woman you could ever meet; she had the strength of a pillar. Maria enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Lupe Melchor Reyes; her daughters, Rosa Labra, and Gina Flores; her son, Ricardo Luis Reyes (Ricky); her mother, Concepcion Ramos; her father, Manuel Vasquez Sr.; and by her brothers, Gonzalo Vasquez and Jesus Vasquez.

She is survived by her sons, Lupe Reyes Jr., Hector Reyes, and Jorge Reyes; her daughters, Maria (Chavela) Reyes, Blanca Martinez, Sandra Reyes, and Dalia Martinez; her sisters and brothers, Carmen Barajas, Manuela Reyes, Alejandra Reyes, Luis Vasquez Estella Quinones, Ernestina Puente, Luisa Cervantes, Marta Vasquez, Concepcion Vasquez, Manuel Vasquez Jr.; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

An evening vigil will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, located at 1601 Oakley Avenue, in Burley, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Church, with Father Eladio Vieyra as celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

I swear this women never owned a fishing pole it was always a beer can with fishing line and she always caught fish with her set up! I will never forget her. Her laugh and her food will always have a mark on my heart.
