Sharon Virginia Garrett

Apr. 23, 1950 - Apr. 22, 2022

Date of Service: Apr. 30, 2022

WENATCHEE – Sharon Virginia Garrett, age 71, died April 22, 2022, in East Wenatchee, Washington. She was born April 23, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest child and second daughter of Audrey (Ray) and Doris Kimball Bateman.

She grew up in the East Millcreek area of Salt Lake City where she helped her mom deliver newspapers, spent hours playing outside with the neighborhood kids, and became a talented seamstress, making clothes for her and her sister, and later her children. Following graduating from Skyline High School, she earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah.

After earning her teaching degree and before securing a teaching position, she was offered the opportunity to work for the Utah and Idaho Sugar Company as a purchasing agent, which she did for 10 years. Subsequently, she worked for Wenatchee Valley Clinic for 18 years.

Her work with U&I Sugar gave her the opportunity to move to Washington State and it was there she met her husband, Kenneth Gayle Garrett. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 29, 1979. They spent 11 years living in Kennewick and the next 32 years in East Wenatchee, Washington.

While she spent her life in a variety of callings in her church, the last two included serving with her husband as Service Missionaries and Sunbeam teachers. She was an avid reader and loved to cross stitch and knit.

Sharon was preceded in death by her daughter, Raefel Garrett. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Gayle Garrett; and her loving, blended family: Shelly (Dave) Freeman, Jeff (Lori) Garrett, Traci (Bryce) Priest, Samantha (Matt) Sturm, and Devin Garrett; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren (soon to be 4); and sister Diane (Bob) Coe.

Ken and the entire Garrett family would like to specifically thank Nancy, Stephanie, Kim, Eric and others for their special care given to Sharon in the last weeks in this life. Their kindness and loving care has been immeasurable during this time. We have truly been blessed to have you enter our lives.
