Alicia Ward
BURLEY – Alicia Anne Ward, 63, of Burley, passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Alicia was born May 31, 1953, in Boise, Idaho. She received her education in Homedale, Idaho, and graduated from Homedale High School. She was the cherished wife of Danny Earl Ward and together, they raised six children, the oldest two being from a previous marriage.
She worked side-by-side with her husband at Danny’s Brake Service & U-Haul, Inc., and was the chronic disease coordinator at West Clinic in Pocatello, where she was an extremely valued employee; having the love and passion for making a difference in the lives she served. She kept active throughout the community and, along with a few others, she helped organize the Scandinavian festival Skandi Dag - which had the goal of raising money for building a new school. Alicia had a way with people that carried over into every aspect of her life. She was very competent, skilled and intelligent, but nothing outshined her ability to focus on and engage with others.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the Young Women, was a Cub Scout leader, stake missionary, Sunday school teacher, and nursery leader.
Alicia enjoyed sewing, softball, good health, walking, health education and she was an excellent cook. However, most important to Alicia was her family. Family was her circle of strength and love. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her smile would light up the room and her presence was a comfort to all who met her.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Ward of Burley; her children, Chris Keetch (Shannon) of Shippensburg, Pa., Trisha Moultrie (Bart) of Rupert, Adam Ward (Amanda) of Albion, Carrol Robins (Seth) of Rexburg, Dolan Ward (Whitney) of Burley, and Sara Oakes of Declo; 13 grandchildren; and eight siblings.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clinton Ward; father-in-law, George Osmer Ward; and grandmother, Gwen Henrikson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, at the Burley LDS 3rd and 7th Ward Church, 2200 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with Bishop Brent Winn officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in Elba.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 21, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, preceding the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alicia Ward Memorial Fund, at Idaho Central Credit Union.
