RUPERT – Dakoda Evan Smith, 20, of Rupert, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, surrounded by family.

Dakoda was born July 11, 2006, in Burley, Idaho, to Laurie Rae Briggs and Jerry Evan Smith. He was in no hurry to enter the world, so 11 days past his due date, he was evicted against his will. He was the third child to enter the family.

Dakoda grew in Paul and Rupert, enjoying fishing, his pets, gaming, and spending time with his family. Once his little brother entered the world, his whole world changed. He admired him and loved to pick on him any chance he could. Even though his life here on earth was short, he loved his family compassionately and without waiver.

Dakoda is survived by his mother, Laurie (Ted) Timmons; father, Jerry Smith; grandmother, Donna Smith; sister, Autumn Eppers; brothers, Austin Briggs and Logan Smith; stepbrother, Kyle (Krysta) Mills; nieces, Draya Eppers, Darien Eppers, Zaylee Mills, and Kaelin Mills; nephews, Kenny Eppers and Waylon Eppers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Aleen Briggs; grandfather, Jay Smith; aunt, LouAnn Marston; and his beloved dog, Dozer.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at View Cemetery, located at 600 South 700 East of Burley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
