Katy Lynn Anderson Laumb

Feb. 7, 1978 - Jul. 14, 2026

Katy Lynn Anderson Laumb BURLEY – Katy Lynn Anderson Laumb, or as her dad called her, “Katy L Kid,” graduated from this earth into the loving arms of Jesus, her savior, on July 14, 2026, in Burley, Idaho.

Katy was born in Salem, Oregon, on February 7, 1978. She was welcomed by her parents, Patti and Rich Anderson; and her brothers, David Thomas Anderson and Kelly Douglas Anderson on Easter.

Her first few years were on the cattle ranch at the “old Bentz place in Whitebird, Idaho. She grew up in Council , Idaho and loved helping her dad with the cattle and the hay. In high school, she excelled in basketball track and rodeo.

Katy was up on a horse before she could hold her head up and riding and competing on horses was pretty much what she loved and did for most of her life. Two of her proudest moments were winning first in a round in the National College finals rodeo and contributing to the big win of first place at the College Nationals by her rodeo team from Lewis and Clark State college.

An outstanding highlight of her life was marrying the cowboy who got the first date with her by making his horse bow to her, Cody Laumb from Rupert Idaho. They have been married for 25 years. Katy and Cody made and kept many friends through their cowboy/rodeo life over the years, many of whom were her warriors throughout her battle with brain cancer.

This marriage produced one of their proudest moments when their son, Colton Rich Laumb, was born in Burley, Idaho. He entertained them through the years with his many, many talents and his thoughtfulness of others.

Katy graduated from Lewis and Clark State College as an elementary teacher. She taught at Milton-Freewater, Oregon, Walla Walla, Washington, and fifth grade at Rupert, Idaho, spanning a period of 20 years.

Katy attended and was later an instructor at Rodeo Bible camps for many years. Her “rodeo moms” Tonya Holmes, Debbie Boor, and Danna Stovner, helped and encouraged her all along the way.

Cody, Katy and Colton’s first home was on Dell avenue in Walla Walla. They had a lot of fun with neighbors who became like family. When Colton was in fifth grade they bought a home in the country near Rupert. They worked hard at their jobs and at sprucing up the place to make it their own. They also got to enjoy a short time in Cave Creek, Arizona, working together with rope horses during the winter.

Katy's outstanding quality is loving God, her family, and her neighbors. She is always thinking of others before herself, a lesson she gives to all of us. Also she is a creative gift giver, making sure that each gift is personal and that everyone gets one. She won the friendship of many by being kind to everyone. And, did I mention, she is one tough cowgirl!?!

She is survived by her husband, Cody Laumb; son, Colton Laumb; her mother, Patti Anderson (Rich– deceased ); brothers, David Anderson and Kelly Anderson ( Dianna); and nephews, Paul Scott and Chris Scott and their families; also her Auntie Jeannie ( Marjean) and Uncle Butch (Daryl) Corey, Uncle Doug and Aunt Nancy Anderson; her loving cousins, Darla Corey and Mark Corey and their families; as well as her mother-in-law, Kathi Laumb; and brother-in-law, Terry (Julie) Laumb and their family.

Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
