Dora Louise "Penny" Coles

ALBION – Dora Louise “Penny” Coles, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 80. She was a resident of Albion, Idaho.

Penny was born on July 29, 1945, in Bethany, Missouri. She lived a life centered on family and caring for those she loved. Her warmth, strength, and generous spirit touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew her.

Penny is survived by her children: Stacey Homan and husband, Mark Homan, Kevin Ritchie and wife, Martha Ritchie, Rhonda Elliott and husband, Darrell Elliott. She was a proud grandmother to Gary and wife, Shandi Goodman, Michelle and husband, Montell Hair, Jennifer and husband, Jed Thronton, Brian Homan, Baylee Elliott, and Charley Elliott. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness.

She is also survived by her brothers, Roy Mercer and wife, Mary Mercer, Raymond Mercer, and Troy Mercer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Penny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Coles; her sister, Donna Hulet; and her faithful companion and cherished dog, Leroy.

Penny’s greatest treasure was her family. She found happiness in gathering with loved ones, celebrating milestones, and creating lasting memories. She also had a special love for her pets, who brought her companionship and joy throughout her life. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

At Penny's request, no memorial service will be held at this time. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the many cherished memories they shared and in the lasting legacy of love she leaves behind. Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
