Date of Service: Jun. 27, 2026

Rose Marie Hruza RUPERT – Rose Marie Hruza, an 83-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at her home. She will be remembered as a loving, steady, and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Rose was born on November 6, 1942, to John and Alice Ulakovich of Montesano, Washington. She attended schools in Montesano and graduated high school in the class of 1961.

After high school, Rose attended Conquerors Bible College (CBC) in Portland, Oregon, where she met Jim Hruza. Jim and Rose were married July 13, 1963, and made their home north of Rupert, Idaho. They were married sixty-three years and eleven months.

Rose was active on the farm. She drove tractor, cultivated sugar beets, drove the swather, cut hay, and drove truck during the beet and potato harvests. Rose was also active in her church and taught the four- and five-year-old Sunday school class for many years.

In 1985, Rose opened Discovery Days Daycare in Heyburn, Idaho. Rose managed the daycare and worked many long-hour days as she grew and managed the business. The daycare’s reputation grew and over the years, was recognized as an exemplary daycare by the State of Idaho. During her time managing the daycare, Rose wrote countless grants and was awarded the funds to make improvements to the daycare.

Later in life, Rose began quilting and it soon became her favorite hobby. She gave quilts as presents to every member of her extended family including her many nieces and nephews and to church friends as well.

As Rose’s health problems mounted late in life, she could still be counted on to bear her pain without complaining, quietly welcome visitors, set everyone laughing with some humorous and unexpected quip, and caring for her family with a steadfast love.

Rose passed away on June 13, 2026, of cancer. She will be terribly missed but her legacy will live on as her loved ones and friends attempt to model the love, kindness, and steadfast spirit that was all her own.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Ulakovich; and her son, Timothy Hruza. She is survived by her husband, Jim Hruza; her siblings, Louie (Phyllis) Ulakovich and Helen Wachtstetter; and her daughters, Trena (Ken) Triplett, DeAnna Hruza, and Jolene (Kelly) Robinson; her grandchildren, Serena Triplett, TyAnna (Mike) Westcott, Mikayla (Eli) Berndt, Rozelyn Triplett, Zoe Robinson, Selah Robinson, and Emily Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Cyrus Kerlin, Essance Farnworth, Isabella Cossette, Jason Westcott, Ryder Westcott, Anna Westcott, and Milli Berndt.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Apostolic House of Prayer, located at 95 E. Baseline Rd., in Rupert, with the Rev. Jerry Dillon officiating. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery.
