BURLEY – Dean Halldor Koyle, a 94-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home.
He was born November 19, 1931, in Burley, Idaho, to the family of Silas Archibald and Johanna (Johnson) Koyle. Dean grew up on the family farm in Willow Creek, being raised by his widowed mother and loving sisters. He played football in high school and was passionate enough about the sport that he walked the miles home after practice and games. Dean and Marilyn Joyce Mitchell met in school and they were married and sealed in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They welcomed to their home seven children.
Dean raised heifers and farmed the Lazy JHK in Willow Creek. He also worked at Kraft Foods and Amalgamated Sugar Company until his retirement. He was passionate about bowling and could often be found with his young family in bowling alleys. His skill qualified him to bowl in several national tournaments.
He was a worthy priesthood holder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Marilyn Koyle of Burley; his children and children-in-law, Lynnette (Greg) O’Dell, Jan (Chris) Bitton, Judy Koyle, Joyce (Russel) Quigley, and Brent (Michelle) Koyle. He has 32 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Steven Ray Koyle, Bart Dean Koyle, and Bradley “J” Koyle; a granddaughter, Jennifer Thomas; a grandson, Justin Koyle; three brothers, Eldon Silas Koyle, Rodney John Koyle, and Wells Freeman Koyle; and four sisters, Doris Thorun Koyle, Mildred Dorothea Koyle Pocock, Blanche Hannah Koyle Simmons, and Bliss Emily Koyle Anderson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - View 2nd Ward, located at 490 East 550 South of Burley, with Bishop Ryan Hobson officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, at the church.
