PAUL – Wayne Gilbert “Grady” Plocher, a 79-year-old resident of Paul, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Wayne was born February 9, 1947, in Rupert, Idaho, the fourth of five children born to Albert and Lela (Firkins) Plocher. He was raised farming in the Northside Rupert area. Grady attended schools in Minidoka county and married his sweetheart, Glenda Meireis, November 10, 1965. Shortly after their marriage, Wayne was deployed to serve in the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps where he valiantly served for three years. After returning home from the war, he and Glenda moved to California with their brand new baby girl, Lisa Lynn.
After a few short years they returned to Idaho and made their home in a small duplex in Rupert where they were joined by their second daughter, Wendy Michelle.
Wayne worked for the City of Rupert and then Project Mutual Telephone, retiring after 37 years of service. He was also a volunteer on the fire department, having spent time volunteering for both the East End and West End Fire Departments retiring as Assistant Fire Chief.
Wayne loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, trapping and tying flies. He always looked forward to the Memorial Day family reunion at Silver Creek even if the weather wasn’t cooperative. He also loved reading books.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Lisa Plocher-Paladini and Wendy Fogleman; grandchildren, Zachary Plocher, Dallas Paladini, Téa Paladini, Xantha Darrow, and Claira Darrow; great-grandchildren, Zedd, Sonny, and Haisley; brother, Gary (Anna) Plocher; and brother-in-law Marvin Reichert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda; brother, Leyon Plocher; and sisters, Deannie Reichert and Diane Allen.
There will be a graveside service with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans at 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Paul Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 909 8th St., in Rupert.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
