George Reed Pickup BURLEY – George Reed Pickup, age 73, of Burley, Idaho, passed away on February 22, 2026.

Reed was born on December 21, 1952, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, as the second child of George Lloyd Pickup and Louise Earl Pickup. He grew up with his older sister and three younger brothers in Tulelake, California, riding horses, hauling hay, and working cattle.

After serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Washington D.C., Reed attended Ricks College where he met his eternal companion, Coleen Muse. They were married in the Washington D.C. temple on December 20, 1974. Together they raised four daughters and six sons.

Reed worked as a general contractor for many years in Tulelake until an opportunity arose to move to Burley, Idaho. He worked as a Facilities Manager for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until his retirement in 2019. In 2021, Reed and Coleen, served a mission to the Argentina, Buenos Aires East Mission where they fell in love with the people and those with whom they served.

Outside of work, Reed enjoyed the outdoors and working on a variety of projects. He instilled his strong work ethic into his children and loved to serve others. In addition to his missionary work, Reed served in a variety of callings for the Church including Branch President, member of the Bishopric, Scout Master, and Young Mens President. Reed will be remembered for his kindness, humor, faith, and his love for his family and the Savior.

Reed is survived by his wife, Coleen; his children, Heather (Kelly) Thompson, Westy (Christine) Pickup, Lori (Dan) Robinson, Angie (Blaine) Hamblin, Travis (Chelsea) Pickup, Justin (Amanda) Pickup, Shane (Katherine) Pickup, Chad (Beverly) Pickup, Cody (Naomi) Pickup, and Daliss (Justin) Hemmert; 34 grandchildren; his brothers, Ray (Lynnette) Pickup, and Scott (Susan) Pickup. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Susan Batson; his brother, Dave (Jill) Pickup; and his son-in-law, Sam Bowen.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Springdale 2nd Ward, located at 519 East 200 South, in Burley, with Bishop Ben Guercio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday, preceding the funeral at the church.
