BURLEY – Miguel Rementeria Sr., was born in Bilbao, in the province of Vizcaya, Spain on November 27, 1941, to Miguel and Victoria (Asteinza) Rementeria; he carried his Basque heritage with pride throughout his life and passed away on December 27, 2025, in Burley, Idaho, at the age of 84.
Miguel dedicated his life to ranching and caring for animals. From a young age, he developed a care for raising sheep and cattle and took great pride in his work. Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and steady presence, Miguel cherished simple joys, especially spending time at the stockyards and sharing coffee with friends.
Miguel was preceded in death by both of his parents, Miguel and Victoria; and his brothers, Jose and Jess.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula De Luna Rementeria, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, faith, and family.
Miguel is also survived by his children, Miguel Angel and his wife Lori, and their daughters, Nevaeh and Azariah; Jose and his wife Amber, and their children Elysa, Leah, and Mya; great-grandchildren, Zavier and Zerik; Rosa Maria and her fiancé Kievin and her daughters, Aleyna and Ashlin; and her son, Jaxxtyn. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Julian, Maria Carmen, Maria Begonia, and Maria Lucia of Spain.
Miguel will be remembered as a man of perseverance, dedication, and quiet strength, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, located at 802 F St., in Rupert, with the Reverend Father Eladio Vieyra as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.
