Nov. 10, 1949 - Sep. 12, 2025
Date of Service: Sep. 19, 2025
BURLEY – Bruce Odell Beck was born November 10, 1949, a true wild child who loved his siblings, Patti, Rodney, Diane, and Leonard. He truly loved his land, his farm, and every animal that called it home. His fun personality carried him through life, but it was his faith that anchored him. While serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1970–1972, he found great peace reading scriptures next to the table in the Carthage Jail in Liberty, Missouri.
Soon after his mission, he met the love of his life, Dawn Hunt, and the two were married on December 21, 1972, in the Ogden Utah Temple. Together, they welcomed six children and built a life filled with memories and fun. He worked many different jobs over the years to provide for his family, but farming—and especially his cows—always held his heart. He also found time to volunteer on various committees in his community and help his fellow neighbor at the drop of a hat.
On September 12, 2025, he passed away unexpectedly from a farming accident, doing what he loved: tinkering and fixing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Weldon; his mother-in law and father-in-law, Twylla, and Doodle; and his brother, Rodney. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn; his six children, Kortni (Brandon) Nelson, Britni (Collin) Widmier, Jakobi (Chad) Conley, Korbi (Stephen) Ashton, Kalan Beck, and Justin (JordAnne) Beck; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and another great-grandchild on the way.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his unwavering faith, strong patriotism for his country and community, and his unique way of connecting with others. He believed birthdays should never be forgotten and made sure no one’s special day ever passed unnoticed—often being the first to offer a cheerful “Happy Birthday,” year after year, even if it was 4 in the morning.
His family finds comfort knowing he has lived with purpose and with no regrets. He has returned to the presence of his Heavenly Father, where he will be saving a seat for each and every one of us.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Pella 2nd Ward, located at 152 W. 400 S., of Burley. Burial will follow at Pella Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 18, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m Friday, prior to the funeral service, at the church.
