John Allen
Simpson "Bud"
Mar. 8, 1946 - Jul. 22, 2025
BURLEY – John A Simpson, known as Bud to family, friends and acquaintances, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, with close friends at his side.
Bud was born March 8, 1946, in Reading, Pennsylvania, but soon found himself living in San Diego, California. Bud had a great childhood with his sisters, Ruth and Susan, along with his loving mother and grandmother.
Bud was a U.S. Marine, serving his country in the Vietnam War in the late sixties.
He returned home to San Diego and went to work as a police officer with the San Diego Police Department. While working there he met the love of his life, Stephany, at a diner and after a brief courtship they were married. Bud and Stephany were married until September 2022, when she passed away due to cancer. Bud had lost his one true love and remained a widower until he passed.
Bud held many jobs over his life including being a police officer, a security guard at the movie studios, your favorite bartender, a garbage man, and he ended his working days as a union labor negotiator for San Diego County.
Upon retiring, Bud and Stephany made the great decision to move to southern Idaho and landed in Heyburn, then later in Burley, where their kindness, generosity and friendship blessed the community. Bud was the guy who bought every school fund raiser item, supported all community events, bought tickets even if he couldn’t attend the event, picked up the bill at lunch and even handed out dollar bills when he ran out of candy on Halloween.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Pearl; his sister, Ruth; and his forever love, his wife, Stephany.
Bud is survived by his sister Susan; his niece, Kim and her family; and many friends who loved him dearly.
Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
