Kaye Marie Waters Quesnell

Jun. 5, 1948 - Apr. 13, 2025

Kaye Marie Waters Quesnell BURLEY – Kaye Marie Quesnell passed away on April 13, 2025, at her home, after fighting cancer for over a year.

Kaye was born June 5, 1948, in Rupert, Idaho, to Dean and June Waters. Kaye grew up in Burley and graduated from Burley High School in 1966. After high school, she attended Idaho State University for one year before moving to Whittier, California. After a few months in California, she moved back to Burley where she lived for the rest of her life.

Kaye worked at several jobs including Cassia National Bank, Burley First Christian Church, Friesen & Dayley Accountants, the offices of Drs. Hayden Ellingham and Paul Dearing, and Minidoka School District. Her careful attention to detail served her well in each of these positions.

Kaye thoroughly enjoyed traveling, whether near to or far from Burley. Her favorite places to visit were the Oregon coast and the Big Island of Hawaii but she was always ready to take a trip down a new road just to see where it went.

When at home, her favorite activity was reading. She was such a voracious reader that she had to make lists of the books she had read to keep from buying the same book twice! When not reading at home, Kaye enjoyed the reality TV shows Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race and The Great British Baking Show. She recorded the shows and often rewatched them to make sure she got every detail.

She was also an avid fan of the Tour de France bicycle race. Every year, she printed the race route and watched every day of the race live, usually starting at 4:30 a.m.! She particularly enjoyed winning the family contest to pick the best riders.

Kaye was a loving and devoted grandma (and granny) to her four grandchildren, traveling often to Boise or to Utah to watch sports games, recitals, concerts and spelling bees, or just to take the kids to the water park.

Kaye is survived by her mother, June Waters; son, Mike Quesnell and his wife, Carrie; daughter, Kara Larson and her husband, Casey; and grandchildren, Aaron, Nick, Kevin, and Lexie. She was preceded in death by her father, Dean; and her brothers, Gary and Leon.

The family wishes to thank her friends and the dedicated and caring staff of St. Luke’s Cancer Institute, Intermountain Homecare & Hospice, and Comfort Keepers for all their help and compassionate service.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
