BURLEY – Marvin Lee Climer, an 81-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Cassia Regional Hospital, in Burley, with his loving wife by his side.
Marvin was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on May 16, 1943, to Lois Maureen McMurdie and Oscar Lee Climer. Marvin was the oldest child of six children born to Lois.
Marvin married his sweetheart, Sharlene Bronson, on August 6, 1983, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. Together, they blended Marvin’s three children, Audra, Jeanie, and Corey, along with Sharlene’s six children, John, Kristian, Stephanie, Nicole, Jennifer, and Elizabeth. Marvin loved to brag about his beautiful, blended family and the fun adventures he took them on. Life was never dull!
Marvin loved spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed riding in the mountains on his four-wheeler, taking his grandkids shooting, camping, and hunting every fall. He would often load his family in his motorhome and drive them across the country. He loved the open road and the USA.
After graduating from Buhl High School, Marvin joined the Idaho National Guard and served his country for eight years. During the Vietnam War he was loaned to the United States Army for two years and traveled all over the country to train special forces in hand-to-hand combat. He worked as a contractor and handyman. He was employed as the Chief Mechanic for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and retired from that position after 21 years. Marvin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life.
Marvin leaves behind his beautiful wife, Sharlene Bronson Climer; their nine children, John Stauffer (Erin Cornell) of Boise, Audra Sellman of Minnesota, Kristian Stauffer (Haylee) of Arizona, Stephanie Nelson (Brett) of Boise, Nicole Valle (Michael) of Japan, Jeanie Thomsen of Minnesota, Jennifer McDonald of Boise, Elizabeth Stauffer of Burley, and Corey Climer (Yukiko) of Japan; 26 grandchildren, Anastassia, Alexandra, Abbigail, Max, Jordon, Robyn, Jacob, Khayman, Emery, Lorelei, Athena, Nicholas, Jonah, Andrew, Benjaman, Sofia, Gabriel, Noah, Alina, Kyle, Colette, Carson, Johnathan, Isabella, Marc, and Marika; and 14 great-grandchildren. Marvin is also survived by his siblings, Linda Kepler of Boise, Shellie Koehn of Buhl, and Rocky O’Donnell (Tracy) of Twin Falls; and his step-father, Donald O’Donnell of Buhl.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Danny; sister, Tawnya Butler; brother, Frank Climer; and granddaughter, Jenna.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – View 2nd Ward, located at 554 S. 490 E., of Burley, with Bishop Kevin Schroeder officiating. Following a family luncheon, the interment will be held at Sunny Cedar Rest, in Almo, Idaho, at 2 p.m.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the church.
