Carla Mason Peterson RUPERT – Carla Mason Peterson, age 94, of Rupert, and formerly of Burley, passed away, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Rosetta Assisted Living in Burley.

Carla was born to Mark & Ruth Mason on September 13, 1930, in Duchesne, Utah. Where she embarked on her very first adventure of living in a tent for several months until her parents decided it was too cold for their baby. They moved into a motel until her dad's job was completed. She spent most of her youth in Sevier County Utah, living close to the mountains and exploring them with her family. She graduated from South Sevier High School in 1948.

She married Max R. Peterson in November of 1950. Carla and Max went on to have four daughters They moved to Idaho in the 1960's during her lifetime she lived in eight states Carla was a fantastic cook who loved to try new recipes and bake yummy treats. She was an incredible seamstress sewing clothing, creating doll clothing, and creating pixies (her daughters all have fond memories of those pixies) at Christmas for many years to decorate with. She loved creating and writing stories for her grandchildren to read. She enjoyed drawing house plans and had notebooks filled with them. She enjoyed making silk flower arrangements. She loved doing picture puzzles. She was a fantastic artist and gave her love of color and art to her daughter, Sherry. She also passed on to all four of her daughters her love of adventures, nature, the mountains, cooking, and crafting.

Carla enjoyed traveling and riding into the mountains to see wildlife, flowers, and the changing seasons. She loved stopping for ice cream at Creekside in Albion, Idaho on our rides.

Carla is survived by her four daughters, Janice (Louis) Bourgeois of Rupert, Idaho, Sherry Walker of Loveland, Colorado, Bonnie (Clint) Bergstrom of Ocean Park Washington, and Karen Hallowell of Kyle, Texas; her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a daughter she adopted into her heart many years ago Cindy (Clay) Wickizer of Wallace, Nebraska; their four daughters; and grandchildren (whom she had no trouble bossing around and teasing at all times.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and an adopted grandson, Jayden Wickizer.

The family wants to thank the staff at Rosetta Assisted Living in Burley,Idaho, for the care and love given to our mom. She loved each of the staff there and called them all her girls fussing over them just as she would her children, several staff members called her momma at times. Her favorite times at Rosetta were when the staff would bring their babies and children in for her to see. During her stay at Rosetta, she became very close with one staff member Nory Cook whom she told us “I adopted Nory so you have another sister”. Thank you to the staff of Visions Hospice, also wish to thank you Dr. Tyson Steel, and his staff in Rupert, Idaho.

A graveside service with urn placement will take place in the summer of 2025.
