Date of Service: Feb. 1, 2025
PAUL – Margaret Hansen Hunt, an 81-year-old resident of Paul, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Margaret was born October 2, 1943, in Boise, Idaho, to Rodney Alton and Zira Jean (Belnap) Hansen. She was the fourth of eight children. She grew up working with her family on their farm in Paul, Idaho.
She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Relations, minoring in Library Science, and a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Washington.
Upon completion of her education, she moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and worked as a librarian. It was during her time there she met her husband, Duane Walter Hunt, at MM & Gleaners. Duane and Margaret married in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on May 17, 1968, and shortly thereafter made Paul their permanent home where they raised their nine children. They were happily married for 56 years.
Margaret never stopped moving. She loved playing games with family and gardening. She served tirelessly in a variety of roles including temple and family history; volunteering in schools; leading cub scouts; and making quilts for children, grandchildren and others; bandages for people with leprosy; mats for the homeless; and meals for family and friends. She was the last one to bed and typically the first one awake.
She was a kind, constant mother and a devoted wife. In addition to her family, she committed her heart and life to serving Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings at the stake and ward level. She and Duane served in the Ghana Accra Mission and in the temple for almost 20 years. She shared her testimony in word and deed wherever she went.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Duane; children: Kristi (Jay) Borgholthaus, Brian (LuWana) Hunt, Kirk (Rebekah) Hunt, Katrina (Joe) Brush, Ben (Gina) Hunt, Kathie (Spencer) Arnesen, Becky (Jeramy) Haderlie, Brent (Janell) Hunt, and Kyle (Tate Hiatt) Hunt; siblings: Karen (Kenneth) Hutto, Laureen (Jay) Anderson, Bruce (Elaine) Hansen, and Thayne (Laurie) Hansen; sisters-in-law: Pam Hansen and Alice Hansen; 37 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Howard, Lowell, and David.
She leaves a legacy of faith, love, service, patience, and kindness which continues to bless her family and friends.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Emerson 2nd Ward, located at 127 S. 950 W., of Paul, with Bishop Brian Kossman officiating. Burial will be at the Paul Cemetery.
