ALMO – William Dean “Bill” Jones, a 93-year-old resident of Almo, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 3, 2025.
He was born August 25, 1931, on the family ranch in Almo, Idaho, the son of Oscar and Leona Eames Jones. He attended school in Almo and the surrounding area, and graduated from school in Albion. He subsequently attended Idaho State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Bill married Annalee Lords, from Ucon, Idaho, on March 8, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were married for 67 years. Together, they raised four children on the family ranch in Almo – all while teaching school. He taught school for 34 years.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served in many capacities including as bishop of the Almo Ward. He and Annalee served for 14 cherished years in the Logan Utah Temple.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia “Pat” Eguilior; son, Jeffrey Dean Jones; and a granddaughter, Jadee Lynn Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Annalee Jones of Almo; daughter-in-law, Sonja Jones of Idaho Falls; children, Gregg (Charlotte) Jones of Twin Falls, Rod (Laura) Jones and LeeAnn (Steve) Durfee, both of Almo; 15 grandchildren: and 39 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, 834 E. 1985 S., in Almo. Burial will follow at Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, January 10, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church in Almo.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Intermountain Homecare & Hospice for the outstanding care given to Bill. We especially thank Kristy Worthington for the love and compassion she gave to our family.
